Initiating and running the WA Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) $6.5M Dispatch Engine project, spinning up a Scrum team delivering every sprint in a strongly Waterfall environment. Team members were highly competent and knowledgeable, and needed a clear path in order to deliver at speed.The team adopted a number of interesting Agile practices. Minimally-documented stories with details written into a Support Guide, which became a first-order deliverable. This required a different approach to testing, leading the team to do Requirement-centric testing (as opposed to Story-based Testing) prioritised by Risk. The criticality of the project and testing approach required all testing to be automated, centred around Gherkins and SpecFlow. Scrum Ceremonies were shaped to boost the team's focus on delivery and share with a wider audience.The team was productive from sprint 1 and continually delivered through the project. It existed in a wider program framework, and the agile approach allowed the team to focus on delivering features that facilitated fast delivery of other projects. A variety of metrics were surfaced as a 4-graph dashboard allowing good control of the project and sharing of status with outside stakeholders.I additionally coached the other Project Managers and wider organisation: setting up a Lessons Learnt database with value indicator; in how to effectively control Agile Projects so that danger signs could be seen as soon as they surfaced; how and why Scrum has difficulties with Engineering projects and how to adapt; Learning by Example. Also being (less effectively) a gadfly to the PMO.

Initially providing leadership to IBM's Scrum Master community at Western Power, this moved on to being the Agile Lead for Western Power's "Customer Management System", a Cloud-based Microsoft Dynamics solution fed by a complex web of Informatica ETL pipelines.A key part of this was leading the team to build an Automated Testing framework for Informatica as the foundation for a DevOps-style continual deployment pipeline. This led to a drop in code-related defects emerging in UAT to (almost) zero.The team consisted of (at peak) 14 offshore IBM resources, onshore IBM team of 7, working alongside the ASG D365 team of 10.
