The number one reason that people come to work with me is because they know that I will provide a fresh perspective - a new way of looking at their situation that helps them step out of their slump or inspires them to tackle new adventures with fresh enthusiasm.I'm a former architect and I’m known as the 'Ideas Architect' because as an innovator, creative and designer, I naturally help other business experts design, build and lead with their ideas. This includes earning money from what they know so they can live and work anywhere anytime - the ultimate opportunity of our age.To achieve this requires the shift from merely ‘earning a living’ to ‘learning a living’ and this has four distinct phases:• Lead - everything starts with the declaration of your intent - what world are you creating?• Learn - one must earn a perspective that offers value and insight to others.• Design - to share your message you'll need to massage it so it strikes at the heart of what people care about• Build - talking about ideas is mere lip-service, it's when we live into them that they offer their full value. Your key task is to build your idea eco-system. I work with people in three distinct ways:(1) Presentations and facilitation with groups in house or at conferences (2) Group or individual coaching (I run regular virtual seminars and courses) and (3) Through a membership site (The Create Club) where I offer oodles of courses and resources.Feel free to connect here and ask me any questions you might have. I also have a lot of goodies available over at geoffmcdonald.com so you can check me out there also.

Business Coaching SpecialistSelf-Employed Sep 2023 - PresentGreater Melbourne AreaEvery Speaker, Author and Thought Leader needs a big idea. In the age of social media and AI, generic content is everywhere. You need an idea that is big, unique, and interesting enough for you to lead a conversation for change. This is how you can be seen and heard today. It's how you establish a following. And it's how you earn keynotes and sell books.Creating your big idea can be tough on your own. It's hard to know what's special about what you do.Plus, it's hard to know what the emerging trends are. If you need a new big idea or to refresh a stale and tired one then read some of my posts on LinkedIn.If they appeal to you, then send me a message and we can chat to see if we can help each other.

Strategic Planning FacilitatorGeoffmcdonald.Com Apr 2006 - PresentOne of my proudest work moments was being involved with the Leukaemia Foundation both in Victoria and nationally to facilitate a series of strategic planning meetings that culminated in the construction of a multi-million dollar care facility for patients and their families in Melbourne. I have also facilitated a range of planning meetings for small business groups, masterminds, local government, NFP organisations and a few unruly mediations. This includes: Centre for Organisation Development, James Hardie, Cavill + Co and Mornington Peninsula Shire. For me, the key to good facilitation is to be able to manage a conversation across the group. This includes the obvious things of having everyone involved - you never know who is going to say something important and with different thinking styles some will be faster or slow to add their viewpoint. Beyond this, it's managing all the 'unsaid' things. For instance, what is the background conversation that is shaping what people are saying or not saying, what is the mood of the room, are we moving too fast or too slow...This all leads to the end result: have we answered the question asked by the agenda and provided a clear pathway forward?Personally, what I like about facilitating compared to training or presenting is that I never know what is going to happen. To be successful I need to stay in the moment and listen like crazy to what is happening around me.

Ideas ArchitectContent Champions Aug 2023 - Dec 2023Greater Melbourne AreaWhile there are a lot of Content Creation courses and training being promoted, most only focus on one side of the equation - publishing lots of content. And usually to attract clients. These are worthy goals but they're missing something important. A champion can be defined in two ways. First, you have elite skills and results. Second, you support or defend a cause. A Content Champion has both. You need the skills AND the cause.Plus, the goal is not simply to attract clients, it's also to develop the deep IP you need to add value to clients over time. Without this, you may attract clients but you won't keep them.

Ideas ArchitectAnywhere Experts Sep 2021 - Aug 2023Many business experts fail to become the go-to person in their industry or niche because they don't convert what they know into ideas that sell. This means they're constantly chasing work they don't like with people they don't care about for less money than they expect.

Ideas ArchitectThe Create Club Oct 2019 - Aug 2023How do you lead with ideas?I believe this is the big question for our time. Gone are the days of leading by position or authority. In it's place is the need to believe in a future possibility, an ideal. Without it your audience will click onto another site, find another job or just plain switch off. To lead with ideas you need three things:1 To keep up to date - out of date ideas are like a wet box of matches - no sparks happening there. 2 Inspire yourself and others - create a manifesto or vision that you and others can believe in and aspire to.3 Project action - you need to translate your ideal into real world results and expressions (products, services, experiences, communities). Completing inspiring projects is a foundation skill for leading with ideas. The Create Club is an online learning centre to help business experts create and lead with ideas to inspire your clients into action.

Project Creation And Completion - Coach And PresenterProject Done Oct 2016 - Aug 2023The big challenge that I've had through my entire career has been turning my ideas into reality. I've had way more unfinished projects than ones that I've completed. For instance, I've published eight books and have more than 25 unfinished ones sitting on my computer. I used to think that this was simply the flaw of being a creative, an innovator and an ideas guy. When I explored my strengths, I realised that I can design clear strategies from a whole bunch of loose threads. And, so I started how to research how people like me fail to complete things. Project Done is the result of this research. It's based on the simple idea that most Project Planning focusses on the wrong thing. It focuses only on the doing part of the project. This is crucial. If we don't take action, nothing changes. However, most projects fail due to a lack of motivation. It gets too hard, we lose interest or simply get distracted by the next shiny object. So, instead of doing traditional Project Planning we need to do Project Design which bakes your motivation, your inspiration and your passion into your project. As a result, Project Done is based on our seven Project Design Rules:1 Stop planning.2 Don’t fix your problems3 Inner over outer4 Rules rule5 Ship smaller sooner6 Structure shapes success7 You have to changeMore: http://geoffmcdonald.com/project-done/
