I have over 30 years of involvement with utility work and site construction in various roles from equipment operator/foreman to estimator and operations manager. For nearly five years I also embraced opportunities in outside sales and warehouse management roles for a telecommunications distribution company. My career initially started with a master's degree in civil engineering with focus on structural and geotechnical design. After several years of earning my PE while working in the structural department of a geotechnical consulting firm, I realized better personal fulfillment working in the field and eventually migrated towards construction management. I truly enjoy my role as a senior land development project manager as I'm able to draw from much of my past experience to help make decisions while it also affords me flexibility for a healthier work-life balance. Another aspect I sincerely enjoy is developing relationships with vendors with the mission of seeking true partnerships. Fortunately, in recent years I have been keener on the leadership aspects of my position, and I've been able to reap the benefits.There is nothing better in my mind for work than watching multiple efficient operations working every possible phase of a project on a beautiful sunny day. Of course, that is assuming schedule and budget are being met!
