The credit is available for eligible employers who have experienced a full or partial suspension of their operations due to a government order related to COVID-19, or who have experienced a significant decline in gross… Show more The Employee Retention Tax Credit (ERTC) is a tax credit available to employers who have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The credit is designed to help employers retain their workers and cover certain costs, such as wages and health insurance expenses. The credit is available for eligible employers who have experienced a full or partial suspension of their operations due to a government order related to COVID-19, or who have experienced a significant decline in gross receipts. To be eligible for the credit, employers must have been in operation on March 12, 2020 and must have either retained their employees and paid them during the pandemic, or have rehired employees who were previously laid off.I’ve been working as an agent with a CPA firm specializing in ERTC funding to help businesses collect on this little-known government tax program that rewards businesses for paying employees during the pandemic.It’s complicated and what’s amazing is almost no one has ever heard of it! The ERTC was developed as part of the CARE act, along with programs like the PPP loan.But what makes the ERTC so different is that it is NOT a loan, it’s a cash credit that has no restrictions on how it is used and it never has to be paid back. If you had between 5 and 500 W-2 employees at that you paid in 2020 or 2021 you likely qualify for the ERTC tax rebate. The best part about this is that you are still eligible even if you received a PPP loan.The average rebate seems to be around $150k, but varies based on how many employees you have.
