SK Group is the third-largest conglomerate in South Korea. User Research • Performed a heuristic evaluation on the company’s product to identify and address any usability issues • Suggested design improves to increase a consumer’s understanding of their product more easily• Assisted on competency analysis on Samsung Electronics Homepage• The Samsung Website is a global website and I did a benchmarking and competency analysis on different companies to improve their current site (UX consulting)Front-End Development• Assisted the senior front-end developer of the company using HTML5 & CSS3 and JavaScript• Helped to make mock-ups and mark-ups based on the new designs.About4Grit makes tools that can analyze and visualize the data of users behavior on the web. By understanding users behavior based on the data, it can give more accurate solution on user experience. The main features of the 4Grit include “UX Heatmaps,” “A/B Testing,” “Funnels,” “User Analytics,” and etc. I worked at the company for four months and that period was a time when the company was testing the beta version and launched after the preparation.

In this Directed Research Group, we tried to answer some of questions such as “How do you think about your technology use? Given the time needed and the tools required, how would you picture your interactions with technology visually? What stories would your interactions with technology tell about you, and about others?I worked in this research as an undergraduate researcher and collaborated with HCDE master degree students and UX Team at Google. To find a solution to answer the questions above, we conducted Experience Sampling Methodology (ESM), diary studies, mobile app usage analysis, the ensuing abstractions, presentations, and visualized the result. Then, we formed a group to discuss the result and design the process of users daily usage technology.

For these six months, I assisted and supported the president of the Washington State - Korean American Chamber of Commerce on various events. One of the biggest events that I helped to plan out was the “2016 Korea-WA State ICT Forum.” During that event, the organization invited about six to seven uprising startups to Seattle. Also, we invited judges from Softbank, VCs, and etc. I was also the junior member (student representative of the University of Washington) of KACCWA.

The Exploring Cues to Action in Today’s Health & Wellbeing Application Directed Research Group was investigated under Professor Gary Hsieh and Ph.D. Rafal Kocielnik. The research group studied behavior change models in the health and wellbeing app marketplace to identify cues to action.In the research group, I compared various health apps to find which triggers or features attract the users and participated in discussion about design choices on the form of cues to action. By collaborating with other researchers in the group, we made a taxonomy of current cues to action techniques in health and wellbeing app market.

Served in the Republic of Korea Air Force for two years as an officer solider in the Safety Accident Investigation Team. I assisted and supported the investigation team when there was an accident. Also, assisted the instructors in the investigation team when there was an education training among pilots. During those two years, I served as a squad leader for four months. In two years of my experience at the Air Force, not only I developed myself physically, but I also learned how to communicate with others, take responsibility, and time management.
