I acted as the principle, strategic member of a number of Senior Management Teams. My duties and key achievements included:• Responsibility for successfully delivering complex change programmes, including consultation and negotiation with Trade Unions;• Dealing with complex people issues and managing and mitigating risk to the organisation;• Influencing and mentoring other areas of HR to support operational delivery with a principle focus on reducing bureaucracy;• Development of an HR People Plan with a focus on staff development, health and wellbeing, leadership and collaborative working; and• Implementation of a succession planning and talent identification system across operational Commands.

I provided professional support and advice to managers, staff and HR colleagues in all aspects of change management programmes and employee relations issues. My main duties included:• Overseeing and project managing organisation change programmes with a specific focus on employment law and people issues;• Assisting with the production of HR business cases / consultation documents;• Consultation and negotiation with trade unions in relation to change management and other employee relations issues; • Responsibility for the Force Job Evaluation Scheme;• Responsibility for HR Management Information relating to activities including change management, casework and exit interviews; and• Line management of a small team of Assistant HR Advisors.

I provided HR advice to a portfolio of departments and provided field-based support to all levels of management and staff. My duties included:• Providing advice to managers and staff across a range of HR issues including recruitment and selection, absence management and medical retirement;• Ownership of discipline and grievance procedures, including complex casework;• Attending area head of department meetings to advise on HR policies and procedures; • Assisting with redundancy and change management cycles, including Joint Collective Consultation and individual consultation;• Coaching and training line managers in HR skills by way of design, preparation and delivery of presentations;• Identifying areas for development and working with management to develop strategies for improvement; and• Compiling management information reports.

This HR department supported a work force of over 100 employees for a growing Company within the Finance sector. Supporting the HR Manager, my duties included:• Providing HR support, guidance and advice to colleagues and managers;• Developing HR practices and processes to ensure consistency;• Responsibility for disciplinary and grievance processes;• Writing job adverts and then advertising them;• Responsibility for the recruitment, selection and interviewing process;• Sickness / absence monitoring & reduction; and• Ensuring all HR administrative records are updated and maintained.

The Marine Personnel Department provides the HR support to all four vessels within the fleet. As part of this small but busy team I provided wide-ranging support including recruitment, crew welfare via travel arrangements, monitoring and advising on disciplinaries, creating new documents and procedures and supporting the Advisors and Manager on ad-hoc tasks as required.

This HR department provides remote support to numerous businesses with Fred Olsen, therefore requiring excellent organization and prioritization skills. My role included assisting with all stages of the recruitment process, monitoring and administering the appraisal process, reporting on Company training requirements, organising training, building relationships with suppliers, compiling, processing leavers, contract creation, issuing and requesting references, assisting in project work and dealing with e-mail and telephone enquiries.

This was a family business and I worked as a Director, helping to set the business up in its early stages.

Working within the HR team of this Housing Association I supported the team as required, worked on policy projects, processed new starters on to the HR system, responded to telephone enquiries, assisted with the Employee Survey, supported the recruitment process
