About George Ashford
I am a student committed to making public policy more efficient and equitable. I currently attend Claremont McKenna College after taking a gap year to pursue my interest in politics and policy. I campaigned in Michigan during the fall of 2020 as a Field Organizer, mobilizing voters to help defeat Donald Trump and flip the Senate, and spent the spring working with FairVote to reform our democracy while supporting progressive local policymaker and then-Takoma Park Mayor Kate Stewart as a comms assistant. I've interned in Congressman Jamie Raskin's DC office, with Bipartisan Policy Center Action, and the housing policy team at the Niskanen Center. At school, I facilitate cutting-edge state and local policy research in California with the Rose Institute, and manage an incredible team of student advocates at GENup. I hope to continue studying and advocating for policy that improves the lives of everyday people.

I recruited 266 volunteers to sign up for 658 phone bank, text bank, and canvass shifts and trained many of them in the tools and techniques used for direct voter contact. The campaign was ultimately successful in delivering the state for Democrats, and in the process I strengthened my organizational and leadership skills, learning the ins and outs of volunteer management and how to mobilize a community towards a political goal. -
