During my internship with BPC Action, I provided research and communications support for one of D.C.’s most effective public interest lobbying shops. I wrote Tweets and email blasts promoting BPC content to Hill staff, compiled information on legislators and staff, and summarized bills and committee reports on issues including PEPFAR and clean energy funding.

It was an honor to serve the people of Maryland's Eighth District, including my hometown, with Rep. Jamie Raskin's DC Office. During my internship, I assisted a variety of staff members with the everyday functions of a Congressional office: compiling press clips, responding to constituent letters and phone calls, and taking notes on Congressional briefings.

As a Communications Assistant, I worked directly with Takoma Park Mayor Stewart to write email blasts promoting the progressive policymaking efforts of Mayor Stewart and the Takoma Park City Council. I've covered topics like the Takoma Park budget, the City priority-setting process, and the fight for municipal tax duplication, Besides helping keep voters in the loop, I gathered and presented Mayor Stewart with background information on local policy relevant to her work.

At FairVote, I organized data necessary for Congressional outreach and internal strategic planning, wrote three blogs highlighting developments in the RCV movement, and executed a successful outreach program to support RCV implementation on college campuses. My role as an Executive Intern allowed me participate in different parts of the organization, and learn about key elements of national non-profit advocacy, from building and managing relationships with allies to shaping media narratives.

UNITE HERE is a labor union representing American and Canadian workers across several industries. After running a successful canvassing operation for Democratic candidates in Arizona, Stacey Abrams' Fair Fight Action invited them to assist Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock in the Georgia Senate runoffs. As a canvasser, I engaged in direct outreach to voters about the candidates and the voting process, contributing to high Democratic turnout and victory in a critical election.

As a Field Organizer on the Michigan One Campaign, I was responsible for recruiting and managing phone bankers, text bankers, and canvassers for Joe Biden and Senator Gary Peters. I recruited 266 volunteers to sign up for 658 phone bank, text bank, and canvass shifts and trained many of them in the tools and techniques used for direct voter contact. The campaign was ultimately successful in delivering the state for Democrats, and in the process I strengthened my organizational and leadership skills, learning the ins and outs of volunteer management and how to mobilize a community towards a political goal.

The Changemaker's Institute is a virtual program connecting young advocates to resources and expertise from YMCA mentors to bring about change in their communities. As a Cohort Captain and Roundtable Facilitator, I led conversations with large groups of my peers and YMCA mentors, advising and facilitating dialogue on advocacy strategies.

Rep. Earl Blumenauer's Online Intern Workshop is a program developed by Rep. Blumenauer's office for the summer of 2020, due to COVID making in-person internships impossible. As an intern, I participated in weekly workshops led by staffers from Rep. Blumenauer's DC and district offices and by other community leaders to teach us in detail about the workings of a Congressional office and Congress as a whole. I also worked with a smaller group of interns, as part of the program, to produce a policy recommendation for Rep. Blumenauer to consider.

As Chairperson of the committee representing young people in my city government, I prepared the agenda for our meetings and communicated on behalf of the committee with the Mayor and City Council. I’ve worked with the committee to host a youth town hall where our congressman, two of our state legislators and the mayor met with youth to discuss their concerns. During my tenure we also weighed in on important city issues, including successfully advocating for a stronger environmental plan, and hosted other community events.

Youth and Government is a statewide mock state government program run by the YMCA. Along with my Co-President, I led my school’s delegation of approximately 60 students. I recruited and prepared students for the annual conference and fundraised for transportation to the conference and to provide scholarships to our members who can’t afford to go. At the conference, I served in the Youth Senate and Youth House of Delegates, writing bills and arguing for them in the Maryland statehouse.

I edited the News section of my high school's award-winning school newspaper, selecting which news events to cover and ensuring that our stories are clear and objective. I was accepted onto the paper my junior year as a writer, covering community and school events, local politics, and school policy. Some of my best articles have been on the Montgomery County Executive race and on gerrymandering in Maryland. As an editor, I worked with my co-editor to manage the news section, reading over stories and conferencing with writers.

Roscoe's is a cornerstone of the Takoma Park dining scene, providing excellent Neapolitan pizza and other Italian food for pick-up and dine-in. I helped keep the restaurant running smoothly, serving food to customers, busing dishes, preparing pizzas for pick-up, cleaning tables, and performing a variety of other tasks around the restaurant as needed.

I was selected to participate in my Congressman's program to engage the next generation of Democratic leaders with politics and organizing. I heard lectures and participated in workshops from experts on various policy fields and political skills, learning how to run a campaign and how to advocate effectively on important issues such as criminal justice. I also campaigned for Democrats in competitive VA races, and spent a day lobbying Senate staffers for a childcare subsidy bill.
