Led Global Witness' campaign to expose the threats and attacks against land and environmental defenders and the communities they represent. Campaigning for land rights, environmental protection and community consent.

George ran Global Witness' Land Team, exposing international land grabbing and associated human rights and environmental abuses, and campaigning for responsible supply and investment chains in the agribusiness and extractive sectors.

George ran Global Witness' Uganda campaign from its inception to its closure. He successfully campaigned with Ugandan civil society and MPs to secure greater transparency, environmental protections and human rights safeguards in Uganda's legal framework for the petroleum sector. He published the first ever open source oil contract modelling tool in 2014 alongside a comprehensive analysis of two leaked Ugandan Production Sharing Agreements in the "A Good Deal Better?" report opening the international oil sector's murky financial deals to public scrutiny for the first time. In 2017, he published the first detailed analysis of Uganda's mining sector exposing systemic corruption, human rights abuses and environmental damage in "Undermined". The report contains ten detailed case studies based on a painstaking and detailed 18 month investigation.

George managed Global Witness' UK anti-corruption advocacy and ran and coordinated the BOND Anti-Corruption Coalition of NGOs, leading the successful campaign to get a strong UK Bribery Act on the statute. He authored the BOND Anti-Corruption Paper in 2010 calling for a cross-Whitehall anti-corruption strategy. This laid the foundations for the future NGO UK anti-corruption campaigning on anti-money laundering, anti-bribery, company ownership transparency, revenue transparency and London property. George was also the Cambodia spokesperson for Global Witness and worked on both the "Country for Sale" and "Shifting Sands" reports exposing corruption, human rights abuses and environmental damage in Cambodia's oil and mining sectors.

George followed parliamentary business, analysed legislative proposals, drafted speeches and parliamentary questions and produced policy briefings for the Rt. Hon. Ann Clwyd MP. He handled communications with ministers, MPs, constituents and government agencies. He managed media relations for Ann Clwyd MP's office, and represented her at meetings with government officials, companies and other external organisations. Ann Clwyd MP was the Chair of the Parliamentary Labour Party and the Prime Ministers Special Envoy on Human Rights to Iraq during this time.
