Drive the planning and execution of all of PetFlow’s technology initiatives while conducting regular meetings to coordinate business and operational needs and goals. In addition, oversee all aspects of the technology department, including personnel decisions, resource planning, project/product planning and management, QA, site support and systems architecture.• Run a team of 12 people covering database engineers, senior software engineers, UI/UX engineers, project management and QA• Headed up the design, engineering and implementation of a custom application platform on top of eGloo Framework• Implemented multi-server solution for hosting production application in addition to a tiered set of development and staging servers• Instituted a hybrid software engineering process based on a combination of IBM RUP, Extreme Programming and Agile Development principles, including continuous integration with git/git-flow, Jenkins, PHPUnit, PHPMD, PHPDoc, CodeSniffer, Jira + Confluence + Greenhopper + Bonfire• Oversaw integration of client and administration systems with 3rd party search solutions and multiple warehouses and custom WMS solutions• Maintained site at 99.999% uptime with over 1.5 million page views a month, including over 350k uniques• Implemented eBiz/OBIEE style reporting that was instrumental in pitching to venture capital firms, ultimately resulting in $10 million series B round financing

Served as a member of the executive team and head of technology research and development, reporting directly to the CEO and functionally to the VP of Product Development. Was tasked with multiple roles, including corporate duties, IT roadmap planning, project management and general software platform development oversight. In addition, was hands-on in leading development of a new software platform for rapid touchscreen-based application development, with the ability to scale to production and delivery of 8 to 10 custom client systems.• Headed up the design, engineering and implementation of client specific touch-based hospitality applications globally• Leveraged previous work done on open source projects to meet tight deadlines, including technology capable of delivering custom web applications on a per-device, per-browser basis in highly scalable environments• Implemented a decentralized and tiered development process and environment built on constant awareness and progress tracking.• Acted as technical liaison with patent attorneys to diagram and describe the foundations of our platform• Tasked with budget oversight for technology, including internal IT resources, FTE requirements and compensation, site installs and equipment, and partnership terms with suppliers and strategic partners and interests• Coordinated with a Chinese firm for key cooperative agreement negotiations and NRE expenses, as well as FCC certification and volume pricing• Have headed up the requirements gathering for a POS integration solution by coordinating development efforts between in-house senior engineers and outside consultants• Managed and oversaw remote monitoring of client sites, including traffic patterns, data-mining and system updates• Designed and implemented a solution for limiting access to an intranet application based upon specific unit hardware and client certificates• Originator of the name of SmartCellar product line

Performed as third most senior member of the technology division and co-led development of a new software platform for luxury services. In addition, served as one of senior members of the IT team, working in close relation with the CIO and EC.• Developed an object oriented software platform (“Portero 2.0”) for aggregating a network of vendors and consigners into an online tracking and management system and consumer-facing portal for luxury good auctions and sales• Committed numerous enhancements and fixes to the open source Zoop PHP framework, including core structural refactoring and deep attribute filtering support• Worked with the Doctrine ORM system for MySQL, including writing and utilizing a wrapper for Doctrine in Zoop and Portero 2.0• Engineered numerous open and proprietary extensions to the core Magento open source ecommerce platform, including account management, data-mining support, dynamic text generation and enhancements of the core internal event/observer dispatch and EAV DB system• Recruited as part of a team structured specifically to sell to VC firms in a new round of financing for future platform growth.
