During this time, Modus Operandi was one of the few company's that could claim to be doing work for all branches of the military's various DCGS (Distributed Common Ground Sensor) programs.

Served as capture manager for several large programs including successfully capturing a program that provided all engineering support for NASA, Dryden Research Center. Provided BD assistance to program management working on mission planning and range management contracts within various branches of the Department of Defense. Responsible for all government BD for this startup company and developer of unique data visualization technology. Reported directly to the company's president and founder. Positioned the company for major breakthroughs within the federal government market working directly with government agencies, as well as with major prime contractors.

Palm Bay, Fl

Business development manager in the STAT (Security Threat Avoidance Technology), IA (Information Assurance) technology group. Responsible for BD to government and commercial accounts including: Veteran's Affiairs, AFLAC Insurance, and others. Managed an OEM relationship with HP where Harris was the subcontractor and served as the company's HP strategic alliance manager. Also set up and managed an OEM contract with a software patching company with Harris serving as the prime. Received a Program Manager New Start Award from the CEO for leading an effort at Veteran's Affairs that resulted in an enterprise software license for Information Assurance technology.

Responsible for Sales, Marketing, Application Engineering, Customer Services, Pricing, Negotiations, and all other facets of the commercial business. Interfaced directly with executive management in Taiwan and reported to the president of the U.S. subsidiary company. Sourced a line of NEMA sized integral HP motors from a Chinese manufacturer for OEM distribution in the U.S. market. Became the number one supplier of large electric motors in the U.S. market during this time frame.

Sydney, Australia

This was a temporary, one year assignment to take over as the new managing director (President) of a financially troubled subsidiary of the TECO Taiwan parent company. The assignment included turning the company around financially and installing and training new executive, local management. The result was a successful transitioning of the company from a significant loss in 1998 to a sizable profit in 1999. This was accomplished by divesting the company of an unprofitable joint venture with a local partner, shutting down an unprofitable division of the company, and reorganizing the company to provide the executive staff with an incentive to succeed. Reported directly to Taiwan executive management during this assignment.

Responsible for managing all relationships and activities at key strategic accounts. Also registered, opened offices and hired local staff in Beijing and Shanghai, China. Received two awards from the president of the company during this time for starting and developing strategic alliance relationships with new companies.

Singapore

Hired and sent to Singapore by Hobart Brothers Company, Troy, OH to set up an office for managing all Asian business for their Airport Systems products. This included registering the company in Singapore, hiring and training local staff, and eventually opening an office and managing local staff in Beijing, China. During this time frame, Hobart Brothers became the dominant supplier of ground power equipment to major airlines in the region and aircraft maintenance facilities in China. This success in the Airport Equipment sector resulted in taking over management of the Welding Products and Consumables division of Hobart in Asia. Several major breakthroughs were made in the welding market including major contracts with PT McDermott in Indonesia and Jurong Shipbuilding in Singapore, major fabricators of offshore oil platforms and ship repair.

Responsible for all sales and marketing for this GSE (Ground Support Equipment) manufacturer. Successfully transitioned the company from being a custom supplier to the U.S. military, to being a mainstream GSE supplier to worldwide commercial airlines. Opened an office in Singapore to manage business in the booming Asia market. Captured major commercial accounts including: Singapore Air Lines, Delta Airlines, Federal Express, Asiana Airlines, Eva Air, Flying Tigers, and others. Also maintained and grew the military business, including numerous FMS (Foreign Military Sales) and direct sales to overseas military customers in Pakistan, Egypt, and Turkey. Reported directly to the president and founder of the company.

Responsible for managing customer relations, staff, and commercial negotiations for this manufacturer of custom electric motors for the Pump OEM and Utility Industry customers, representing products manufactured in the USA and Germany. Also responsible for supporting business in Venezuela, by taking several trips to Venezuela in support of the oil field and pipeline industries. Reported directly to the VP of Sales and Marketing.

Responsible for sales, marketing, customer relations, and commercial negotiations for this manufacturer of large induction and synchronous electric motors (2500 to 100,000 hp) to the Pump OEM and Electric Utility markets. Successfully negotiated contracts with Orlando Utilities, Baltimore Gas and Electric, LCRA, Byron Jackson Pumps, Sulzer Pumps, Ingersoll Rand, and numerous other companies. Became an application specialist for high speed variable frequency drives, large two pole motors, and custom vertical motors for petrochemical, utility, and pipeline customers. Reported directly to the department manager for Fan and Pump Applications. Received a Westinghouse "Inner Circle Award" for outstanding performance in Sales and Marketing while employed in this position.
