As a proud product of the Greater Detroit community, I have exceptional understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of our community and what is needed to provide economic, educational and social development with good paying jobs and a safe environment for our children, young adults, seniors and working families which, I believed is paramount in the uplifting of our or any community and something that I have well prepared myself; through leadership in the community, educational achievement and working experience in providing such needs and services within our community for most of my adult life.During my career, I have been appointed to the position as the Director of the Wayne County Detention Division of the Wayne County Department of Children and Family Services and was the proud recipient of the State of Michigan, Department of Social Services; Office of Delinquency Services’ Recognition Award for Outstanding Employee, and received the Distinguished Alumni Award 2008, from the Department of Social Work, Marygrove College.In addition, I sat as a Commissioner on the City of Detroit, Department of Human Services, Community Services Commission, as well as a member of the City of Detroit, Department of Health and Wellness Promotion, Maternal Child Health Advisory Board and recently receive an invitation to join as a community representative, the Detroit Public Schools Head Start Policy Committee.Sincerely,George H.
