George Hall is Chairman and CEO of XChangePlace LLC. After graduating with an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in December of 1985, George Hall joined the Mortgage Backed Securities group at Citicorp, trading various MBS products including residential and commercial MBS. Eventually he was appointed head of the MBS desk. In 1989, he joined Greenwich Capital where he spent two years trading mortgages and mortgage derivatives.  In 1991 he formed Clinton Group, a SEC Registered Investment Adviser that eventually grew to almost 200 employees trading many different strategies. Initially the firm focused on identifying and purchasing cheap mortgage securities, holding them, collecting a coupon and then selling for a profit. Mr. Hall built a robust technology team focused on quantitative analysis which helped identify undervalued securities. He leveraged this technology across several different arbitrage strategies including Fixed Income, Asset Backed, Convertible, Credit, Event Driven, Merger Arb, and Equity Statistical Arbitrage. Mr. Hall also valued infrastructure and built an extensive back office and compliance department. At its peak, Clinton had over $5 billion in hedge fund AUM and $5 billion in CDO’s/CLO’s.  Mr. Hall has always been on the cutting edge in terms of identifying and capitalizing on new opportunities in the market and at the same time navigating through various financial crises that developed in 1994, 1998  and 2008.
