I am an engineer by education, but have spent my entire 26+ year career at Caterpillar in sales and marketing. 16 of these years (3 in Canada, 7 in Northern Europe, 6 in Charlotte) have been calling on Cat dealers and their customers. At some point in time during these 16 years, I represented every prime product machine in the Caterpillar portfolio, and every customer segment we sell into. My two degrees in Civil Engineering, combined with 6 summers at the Illinois DOT and countless summers before that at my father's surveying company, allowed me to seamlessly transition into the Caterpillar world out of college. I have a passion for our dealers and the customers they serve, and I understand the "outside of headquarters" world better than most of my peers, i.e. what it takes to delight, not just satisfy, Cat customers. For 3 years when I was not calling on Cat dealers, I led Six Sigma-based global projects focused on developing strategies to interaface with our largest global customers, train our dealers, utilize technology to reduce waste from our customers' jobites, and balance supply with demand. In March 2020, I took on a new role as North America (NA) Product Marketing Manager. My team has NA responsibility on Core products for demand, merchandising programs, PINS (market share), Services Growth, and our Cat dealer "Pay for Performance" initiative. We are the primary interface between our field teams (sales execution) and product groups (supply side).
