The role of the Engineering Manager is to ensure the availability and airworthiness of these critical assets for global operations. My key duties include:• Operational Leadership and Management – responsible for 70 highly trained technicians and logistics personnel. Notably the health, safety, and wellness of staff in high pressure operational environments.• Supplier and Vendor Management – responsible for technical engagement, contract coordination and management of strategic suppliers (Airbus, Boeing, Rolls Royce, Lockheed Martin, United States Air Force, Air New Zealand). • Project Management – scoping and management of projects to improve operational efficiency and airworthiness/safety outcomes.• Risk Management – assess and mitigate airworthiness/safety/operational related risks and accept or escalate the residual risk. • Resource Management - Ensure there are adequate resources, components, and personnel to conduct maintenance safely and meet short notice operations.

The New Zealand Defence Force recruits 800-900 uniformed personnel a year across over 100 different trades. The role of the Regional Recruiting Officer is to lead a dispersed team of 20 staff to find and recruit 25% of this number annually. Vodafone’s Technology Enterprise Services build networks and security systems for its commercial clients such as BNZ, IRD, NZ Post and the NZ Police. The role of the Project Manager is to deliver these networks on time and to budget. Key Duties: • Project and Resource Management – coordinating and managing projects using a Prince2 approach. • Stakeholder Management – maintain positive relationships with customer and key sub-contractors.• Risk and Issue Management – identifying, mitigating, and reporting on project timeline/budgetary risks and issues.

Maintenance Squadron services and repairs aircraft components. The Manager’s role is to lead a multi-disciplined workforce of technicians to ensure the throughput of aircraft components meets the government’s operational demand. Key Achievements:• Programme managed the repair of the RNZAF’s Deployable Bulk Fuel Installation. This involved the coordination of 60 personnel from 14 different units, producing a combined 1700 working hours over 12 days to deliver a serviceable asset. This enabled the success of the largest Defence Force exercise ever run in New Zealand.

Development role as a Junior Engineering Officer. I gained experience managing small projects, leading teams of talented technicians and assisting with the day-to-day management of running a flying squadron.
