I practice asbestos/silica litigation in Madison and Cook County, Illinois, and St. Louis, Missouri. I also handle cases in outlying Illinois counties, known as Southern Illinois to those living north of Joliet. I have negotiated settlements in hundreds, if not thousands of litigation matters. I have appeared for trials in Madison and Cook County, argued pre-trial motions and dispositive motions. I am in charge of hundreds of pending asbestos cases. I tried 30 cases to verdict in Missouri and Illinois and argued cases before the Missouri Supreme Court and the Missouri and Illinois Appellate Courts . I have handled appeals before the United States Circuit Court of Appeals for the Seventh and Eighth Circuits. I have defended clients in personal injury litigation and contract defense litigation. I have represented defendants in administrative proceedings regarding their employment, negotiated and supervised contracts for a major municipal corporation/agency and represented defendants in criminal proceedings. I started my legal career by clerking for one of the most respected and knowledgeable justices of the Missouri Court of Appeals for the Eastern District in St. Louis, the Honorable Judge Gary M. Gaertner.I am a member of the Illinois Defense Counsel (IDC), Missouri and Illinois Bars, and am rated AV Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell. I am a lifetime Member of Montclair's Who's Who in North America.I am also a member of the Backstoppers. I am still active in the South County Toastmasters, Club 1957, where I have served as President. I have published legal articles in the Young Lawyer's Division of the Defense Research Institute (DRI). I am the author of the book, SMOKE SIGNALS, The Eleven Unwritten Rules of Negotiation.I have played guitar, when real musicians will let me. I also have performed stand-up comedy in the St. Louis area and am available upon request, with just a few teeny-tiny requirements.
