George Luger has authored a popular text on AI: Artificial Intelligence: Structures and Strategies for Complex Problem Solving, Addison-Wesley, Sixth Edition, 2009. A companion programming guide, also published by Addison Wesley in 2009, is AI Algorithms, Data Structures, and Idioms in Prolog, Lisp, and Java (co-author William A. Stubblefield).Professor Luger's research group focuses on using stochastic tools, including HMMs, MCMC, and related techniques for diagnosis and prognosis. His group has created a first-order and Turing-complete reasoning system called Generalized Loopy Logic.
