Program counsel with the Acquisition Law Division of the Air Force Materiel Command Law Office (AFMCLO) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. As part of the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance branch, I support and advise the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center on mulit-billion dollar procurment programs from cradle to grave. I was selected as the lead military attorney for the Air Force's next generation helicopter source selection valued over $2B. My duties as program counsel include crafting strategies to secure sufficient intellectual property/data rights, ensuring compliance with the FAR and DFARS and other regulations, ethical obligations, drafting legal opinions, assiting in litigation or protests and claims, and serving as a business advisor to program teams.

Andrews Air Force Base, Md

As a trial attorney in JAQC (The Air Force Commercial Law and Litigation Directorate) I represent the Air Force in litigation before the GAO, the Armed Service Board of Contract Appeals (ASBCA), and work with the Department of Justice at the Court of Federal Claims. While at JAQC I have handled over 20 protests valued over $6 billion and 13 claims valued over $50 million. I have appeared before the Court of Federal Claims in four cases valued over $1 billion and successfully conducted ADR at the ASBCA.

Edwards Air Force Base, Ca

While assigned to the Air Force Test Center at Edwards Air Force Base I first served at the Chief of Military Justice, overseeing the military justice programs at four installations across the United States. I was later selected to serve as the deputy of the legal office and even filled in for a time at the Center Staff Judge Advocate.

Barksdale Air Force Base, La

As a defense counsel I represented Airmen in adverse proceedings, both administrative and criminal. I represented over 200 Airmen securing full acquittals, dismissal of charges pre-trial, suppression of unlawfully obtained evidence and ensured that the military justice process was applied fairly to all Airmen.

Barksdale Air Force Base, La

In the Barksdale AFB Legal Office I performed the full range of attorney functions for a Judge Advocate. Those duties included serving as a prosecuting attorney for several courts-martial, legal assistance, wills and trusts, and serving as a legal advisor to commanders. As the Chief of Adverse Actions I administered and oversaw the nonjudicial punishment actions for the Wing, 4 Groups and 19 Squadrons on the installation. Additionally I oversaw the administrative discharge program ensuring that Airmen were afforded all rights in the discharge program and that discharges were executed in a timely manner.

Houston, Texas Area

In 1996 I was one of eight officers Air Force-wide selected for the Funded Legal Education Program (FLEP). The FLEP allows selected officers to attend law school in exchange for a service commitment. During summer breaks students are required to work internships at Air Force legal offices. In 2007, I interned at the 311 Human Systems Wing Legal Office at Brooks City-Base in San Antonio, Texas. While at Brooks I focused heavily on contract reviews, identifying over 30 shortfalls on a $161 million air defense communications upgrade. In 2008, I interned at the 12 Fighter Training Wing Legal Office at Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio. While there I provided over 20 contract legal reviews support over $150 million in procurements.

Hanscom Air Force Base, Ma

At Hanscom AFB, I learned the fundamentals of System Acquisition as well as earning my Level III Acquisition Professional Development Program certification in contracting. I was the lead buyer for the Combat Information Transport Systems Program Office, a $4.1 billion ACAT1M program. This assignment enhanced my knowledge and ability to use the FAR and DFARS to rapidly meet the demands of the programs I supported.

Minot Air Force Base, Nd

At Minot I served as a Flight Commander for the 5th Contracting Squadron and a warranted contracting officer. During my time at Minot I was put on G-Series order to serve as the Squadron Commander for several months while the appointed commander was deployed. In contracting I supervised a Flight of 5-7 people (military and civilian) and wrote/oversaw/executed over $41 million in annual procurements.

Deployed Locations

While assigned to the Law Office at Wright-Patterson I was tasked to deploy in support of Special Operations Command Central (SOCCENT). During this deployment I served at a forward location as the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate Forward. My duties included a heavy focus on Operational Law as well as Intelligence and National Security Law during a time of increased activity following in the designation of the IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization. This position also included overseeing several administrative investigations into allegations of misconduct and mismanagement of government property. Among the various duties, acting as an ethics advisor was crucial when advising senior leaders making "can do" versus "should do" decisions.

I enlisted in the Marine Corps in July of 1996. After boot camp, I completed my training at the School of Infantry and was assigned as an 0311 Rifleman to a Reserve unit in Austin, Texas. When I began college, I was transferred to the Waterloo, Iowa Reserve unit and became an 0811 Artilleryman. I transferred from the Marine Corps to the Air Force following graduation from college. Before changing services I was promoted to Corporal, a Non-Commissioned Officer in the Marines.
