George Mortis bio:George graduated from the University of Athens in Greece majoring in Physics and Math with a grade of 10 out of 10 in Physics. He was offered the position of the Assistant to the professor of Physics which he accepted. At the same time he attended a three month seminar on solving mathematical equations with high number of unknowns using the power of the computer. This experience gave him the desire and interest to study the future of computers.As a physicist, George obtained the Green Card and in 1971 moved to the United States. Worked as a computer programmer developing engineering applications and enrolled at Wayne State University night classes graduating with a Master degree in Computer Science in 1975. His next jobs were with Uniroyal and later with Chrysler as data analyst of business applications on mainframe computers. In 1982 started night classes at University of Detroit graduating with a Master in Business Administration in 1985.Continued his career with Chrysler for 31 years advancing to all levels of Management Information Systems. Since 1996 he managed the Data Base Administration department for U.S., Canada, and Mexico. Integrated the business and plant data and implemented Data Mining and Artificial Intelligence. In 1998 he was awarded a U.S. Patent on inventing a method for automatically adjusting data sizes in different database platform operations.After retiring from Chrysler he devoted his time volunteering in promoting Hellenism, Education, and Philanthropy. George served as the Chairman of the AHEPA Educational Foundation from 2016 to 2020 and continues to be on the Board of the organization that offers annual scholarships to high school and college students,. He and his wife are members of the Leadership 100 since 2016. For many years, George chaired the St. Nicholas auditing committee, served as a Board member and Treasurer of the Detroit Greek Independence Day Committee, and as Treasurer of the North Oaks Homeowners Association. He devotes the remaining of his time visiting his grandchildren and traveling.
