I provide professional legal support, technical expertise and thought leadership relating to sustainability, climate change and ESG, and I am one of the first lawyers to specialise exclusively in this area. This means focusing on:- understanding fast-evolving sustainability reporting standards like the CSRD, ISSB and transition planning disclosure frameworks, and how to address similar-but-different reporting requirements in different jurisdictions pragmatically and efficiently;- engaging with and helping to advise on different approaches to sustainability-related corporate governance;- supporting the growing awareness of human rights as an area that applies to businesses; and- mitigating the risks relating to greenwashing and ethics-washing. This is as part of the global transition to a sustainable future, that involves navigating a complex and fast-changing mixture of voluntary and mandatory requirements, frameworks and guidance to develop a coherent response strategy that meets organisations' sustainability-related ambitions whilst managing legal risk.

The City ESG Knowledge Forum offers City-based Professional Support Lawyers and Knowledge Lawyers, who are ESG-specialists or have an interest in the area, a space to discuss recent developments, share best practice, and hear from leading speakers in ESG.

The City of London Law Society ESG Committee offers a collective voice for City law firms on proposed legislation, consultations and other initiatives relating to ESG, as well as a forum to discuss best practice and ways to do more.

The NZLA is committed to helping lawyers, law firms and the law accelerate the transition to net zero. This includes: (1) reducing operational emissions by at least 50% by 2030; (2) contributing pro bono time to projects to achieve climate objectives; (3) building capacity among lawyers; and (4) providing net zero aligned advice. I am proud to be Slaughter and May's representative to the NZLA and to lead on climate change-related capacity building and promoting net zero-aligned advice in line with the NZLA commitment.

I worked closely with teams across Whitehall to lead on, problem solve and stress test the most controversial and difficult legal questions facing government, often where law and politics intersect, at pace, and to the highest standard. Whilst working with the UK Law Officers, my role included leading on:- Brexit litigation responses including the Article 50 prorogation case;- the Coronavirus Act 2000 and pandemic response more generally;- consistency of all draft Bills with the rule of law before their introduction to Parliament; and- fulfilling the Law Officers' role in considering appeals for fresh inquests.

I provided UK Government with expert legal advice on public law risks relating to renewable incentive schemes including:- the Renewable Heating Incentive and Feed-in Tariffs- climate change targets- the Renewable Energy Directive- ecodesign and eco-labelling- heat metering.

I worked in Withers' Real Estate department focusing on high value residential freehold and leasehold transactions. This included experience of commercial and rural property matters.

My training included seats in Real Estate, Corporate and Commercial, and Wealth Planning. I also completed a 6 month secondment to Withers' Family department in Hong Kong.
