George G. Robertson is a litigation attorney in Holland & Knight's Houston office with particular experience in complex commercial litigation matters in the state and federal courts of Texas, Georgia and South Carolina, as well as in arbitrations. • Responsible for all aspects of civil and commercial litigation in state and federal courts, with a specific focus on general business litigation matters, class actions, railroad litigation, consumer law, and construction law.• Obtained denial of defendant’s motion to compel arbitration in putative Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) class action against a debt buyer. Drafted briefs for the Appellee and the verdict was affirmed in part and reversed in part on appeal in Graybill v. Attaway Constr. & Assocs., 341 Ga. App. 805 (2017).• Represented a Class 1 railroad as co-counsel in litigation matters in state and federal courts such as Federal Employers Liability Act (FELA) and general tort disputes.• Lead counsel for putative class in an FDCPA class action lawsuit against a collection agency in federal court.• Co-counsel for putative classes in six FDCPA class actions against debt buyers in federal court which has included multi-district litigation and litigation in federal bankruptcy court.• Represented insurance company as lead counsel and obtained dismissal in Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) lawsuit in federal court.• Represented defendant construction company as co-counsel in a residential construction dispute in South Carolina state court.• Tried multiple bench trials to a verdict and obtained favorable judgments in each matter.

• Provided free legal representation to low-income taxpayers who had post-filing controversies with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) including audit representation, appeals, non-filers, collection issues, tax settlement negotiation, and representation before the U.S. Tax Court.• Briefed and argued Jeffers v. Comm'r, 2014 Tax Ct. Summary LEXIS 79 (T.C. 2014).

• Assisted the Judge by attending hearings, performing research, and drafting orders and other memoranda on issues relating to the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, contracts, and liens.• Published order that I drafted: Huon Le v. Managed the movement of freight trains and the work of 150+ unionized employees in a highly-regulated industry. Worked closely with customers to deliver product in a timely fashion. Trained new employees to work in accordance the regulations required by the Federal Railroad Administration. Investigated accidents and derailments and represented Norfolk Southern in the public relations associated with such events. Subject to call 120 hours per week, all year.

Participated in a one-year training program in which I learned leadership skills, management practices, and on-the-job training including twelve weeks of inter-departmental rotations in a variety of U.S. cities. Necessitated constant attention resulting in working many different shifts on weekends, and holidays.

Intermittently worked at CEG from 2002-2008. Cooperated daily with an organized team of surveyors in order to achieve the most accurate measure of land and elevation using applied trigonometry as well as advanced GPS and infrared technology.
