Taking care of the crew on board & dealing with passengers; all the usual trappings that go into looking after a normal luxury hotel, albeit this is on a floating hotel which travels up & down the Yangtze River, with the exception of the winter months november-february when the ship was based in Shanghai and only cruising weekends on short trips up to Yangzhou & Taizhou.

Escorting major tour groups in and around the far east, china, the med, russia, spain, france, india, central asia; looking after their well being, transfers and flight arrangements, hotel accommodation, meals, further bookings and all associated tasks dealing with touring etc. i also accompanied them on river and ocean cruises as required.

major responsibilities were to extract the most service from the cabin crew, look after the passengers and also the flight crew and deal with any overnight stays like the hotel accommodations and crew transportation to and from the airport.

Dealt with and looked after all catering requirements at the building site of the new (being built) brewery there, including erecting of a field facility kitchen out of a 40foot container.. When the catering building was completed we had an on site restaurant plus pub for the finish of work hours looked after 3 other management personnel and churned out 2000 plus meals per day, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Western meals for management and senior personnel.. Chinese meals from staff from south China including meal boxes and meals and meal boxes for northern Chinese staff involved in the entire construction. Brought the whole project to completion ahead of schedule under great project management and direction.

Setting up the whole hotel & casino section operation, as this was a pre opening hotel/casino project. Brought in the food & beverage manager and the executive chef, and was introduced to the casino project management whilst there.

All new hotel staff training and writing up the sop handbook for the hotel. This was a pre opening position.

Recruitment & training of personnel and all hr functions, then when our plans of running a pub and more functional coffee shop in the hotel I was given a more food & beverage function. After 6 months had passed the rooms division manager completed his contract and the general manager decided I could cover the position as well since I was training the front office and rooms personnel too.

As per the description given at previous Novotel jiang hotel in Guangzhou, except that this property was still under construction and I was setting up all training & recruitment of staff for the pre-opening including the compilation of manuals of sops (standard operating procedures).

All human resource associated functions including training manuals & programmes for a new hotel property just completing construction and soft opening. On the local Chinese section I was overseeing a local recruitment manager dealing with all items in the Chinese language.

Looking after all pax on board aircraft, service wise and pr. Looking after my crew members on board and their fun and welfare at outport station layovers etc. Liaising with flight deck crews re their food and drink patterns and if there were any untoward major deviations. General on board duties and functions, documentation and report compiling to the company.
