Duties / Responsibilities• Initially, started up the branch (Transportation), managing all personnel and controlling a local fleet of vehicles distributing product on behalf of Everite and other clients, market our services to secure return loads for all the long distances vehicles out of the KZN area. • In order for the company to progress in this region and with my back ground and knowledge in supply chain and logistics management I was able to achieve the following:o By opening a warehouse in Isipingo to offer our clients tailor made solution.o By unpacking containers for clients and consolidating loads to maximize vehicle utilization and reduce transport costs.o By unpacking the containers in Durban the customer risk was reduced for demurrage cost on late empty container turns.o Also allowing clients to load smaller deliveries on the long distance vehicles to various stops. o These vehicles would come to the warehouse offload and the local vehicles would continue with the deliveries, enabling the long distance vehicle to reload early. o Long distance vehicles that were running late could be loaded at night from the warehouse, this avoided the loss of revenue and improved customer service as delivery was met on time in full.o This opened a door for us to increase the local fleet to transport empty and full containers.o We also manage to penetrate into the harbor logistics transporting cargo directly from the vessel into leasehold warehouses in the Maydon Wharf area.
