In this role I learnt some of the key commercial and client aspects of business. In 1992 I left this role and established mLight.

During this time I worked in a variety of engineering roles in a number of different industries. In many ways this was a sad season in manufacturing because businesses were either getting downsized or changing at a rapid pace, being forced into mergers from conglomerates and joining forces with businesses that were not the right fit.During my final role at Concord, which was swallowed up by a larger organisation, I made the commitment to myself that if I was going to get retrenched again, I would be in control of this decision. This was the motivation I needed to actively look for a sales role.

I commenced my career as an apprentice and then went into tool making from this. Kempthon Lights closed down in the 1970s due to the impact of the Chinese produced products and the low cost of production compared to Australia.I saw my future in engineering because I like to innovate and change the way things are designed and made. I believe engineering does this well, providing me with a strong sense of achievement when my team designs products that improve the way we live.
