About George Walker

I love solving problems in creative ways, be they digital or physical and am approachable, positive and enthusiastic in the way I interact with people. I have lots of experience working on projects in both professional and academic scenarios and have taught a wide range of ages and abilities. I can write software in a number of languages, design and build hardware and create interfaces between the two. I am also proficient with creative and technical software including designing and editing 3D models, sounds, images and videos. My work up to now has left me comfortable working as part of a team or autonomously and I have contributed to a number of projects in academic and research environments. I solve problems efficiently and effectively, can use and maintain mechanical and digital tools and am highly experienced at rapidly prototyping, fabricating and documenting projects to a high standard. I am well practised at working with a range of workshop machinery including 3D printers, laser cutters, milling machines and lathes. My degree at The University of Sussex concluded in 2014 and I received a 2:1 in Music Informatics. My course explored many disciplines, both creative and technical, and provided a solid foundation for me to develop skills from. The course focused predominantly on sound generation and manipulation but also gave me a good grounding in a range of creative coding and physical computing disciplines including hardware controllers (using Arduinos), artificial intelligence and interface design.Since graduating I have worked in a number of different jobs including research assistant in robotics at UCL on the Crowdbot project, technician and digital lead at the Institute of Making, software and hardware development at robotics company Ohbot and freelance fabrication in the Scientific Equipment Care and Engineering departments at the Francis Crick Institute. I’m an early adopter, always on the lookout for new and innovative uses of technology and spend a lot of time tinkering and playing with robots and other electronics. I am fascinated by how we can use technology to solve some of the big problems we face in the world and relish opportunities to use my skills to help achieve this.In March 2021 I dove into the wonderful world of Web3 and am currently working as a developer and consultant on a number of NFT projects. I have founded a Web3 development agency called Whoosh Labs and also work with the consultancy agency WAGMI, helping brands enter the space.
