I was a project engineer at JLE Electrical where I managed instrumentation and electrical installation projects in New Zealand, Australia and Papa New Guinea in a wide range of industries e.g. Petrochemical, food processing, fertilizer production, military and water treatment facilities.

I was employed by Worley Parsons New Plymouth but I was contracted to STOS (Shell Todd Oil Services). At STOS I assisted the Instrumentation and Electrical maintenance team with their workload. My position primarily involved updating maintenance schedules for safety critical systems and assessing the criticality of the safety systems.

I was granted a summer scholarship at the University of Canterbury on the UAV project funded by Unison.I designed a Bootloader for microcontrollers communicating with a CAN bus. This project was entirely embedded software development on AVR microcontrollers. The Bootloader was implemented and tested on three microcontrollers. The final software was successful and met the design specifications.My knowledge of software development and embedded systems vastly increased during this project.

Hawk Packaging is a New Zealand owned company that uses recycled paper to produce fruit and egg trays. I worked in the engineering department of the company where I carried out fabrication, design and maintenance work. I arrived at Hawk Packaging a week after a large fire that severely damaged one section of the production factory. In the maintenance department I worked individually and with the engineers to repair problems in the production factory. For the last four weeks of my employment I worked in the fabrication department. Initially I was taught some basics to the fabrication processes. Once I became more capable I was given some of my own fabrication projects. During my work experience, I learnt numerous design, fabrication and maintenance skills but I also developed an understanding of the engineering industry. Show less
