This involved emptying our stores stockroom of all “display only” products we had stored out there, and bringing them onto the sales floor (so our customers could “self serve”). As a result of this, we saw an additional £10,000 added to the stores weekly takings and a 28% growth within the category for the period after we had implemented the change.

Whilst acting as a duty manager I was responsible for opening/closing of the store, completing daily safety log book checks, as well as weekly, monthly and quarterly safety checks in multiple stores. In November 2019, I embarked on a new challenge within the business. Becoming a Showroom Advisor really helped me build on my customer service skills, alongside with building a strong rapport with each and every customer I interacted with. Using my previous CAD knowledge and experience I had learned in college, I picked things up very quickly.On my second day of being on the department I had already designed and sold at sit, a kitchen project, on my own. As a result of this, my line manager put my name forward to become a 'Showroom Superhero' - where I later became one of three people in the whole company to win an Apple Watch. During the January Peak Event, my ability to sell a project at sit became more and more apparent and I began to overtake colleagues - in regards to sales - that had 10+ years experience on me. When the event finished, I was awarded Star Performer of the store by my Unit Manager.

In August 2019, B&Q launched a 3 month long smart home trail in 25 of their warehouse stores. I was put in charge of leading the trial at Cribbs Causeway. The role was sales driven and I instantly demonstrated a natural sales ability. I achieved and maintained a top position for my store. (In one week, I sold just under a quarter of the whole trail sales.) I also had to maintain high standards around the stand/products by immediately logging any damage. In addition, manually requesting more stock to cater for things such as bank holidays. During the Black Friday period the company launched a competition to sell a certain amount of Google SKU's to win a Google Mini or Google Pixel smart phone. I exceeded the sales target and won both prizes. At the end of the 3 months, it was announced that the trial had been a success.
