Sales Of Specialty FilmsBarrington Packaging Systems Group Jan 2005 - Present1. Foil (metal) laminated to a sealant layer of film. This is similar to a McDonalds Ketchup packet or a restaurant wet wipe. Can be paper/poly/foil/poly as a complete structure.2. Metalized Film (either OPP (polypropylene) or PET (Polyester)laminated to a sealant layer. This is similar to a Cheeto’s Bag or single serve coffee pack.3. PET (Polyester)/L or LLDPE film. This is what you are currently using. This film is used to package a myriad of items that require frozen or fresh presentation. 4. Coated OPP which is a mono layered film with a PVDC or Saran coating for greater barrier properties. (low Moisture Vapor Transfer Rate MVTR)5. CPP Cast Polypropylene. Generally used as a laminating alternative to LLDPE because it has greater clarity than LLDPE. Can be used as bread bag material because of its clarity and tensile strength.6. Plain OPP. Twinkie wrapper.7. Linear Low or Low Density Polyethylene. A bread Bag or a dry cleaning bag is an example. Your machine has coated jaws and fin seal to accommodate this type of film.Other specialty films include:1. HDPE (High Density Poly Ethylene) Used to overwrap hotel cups2. Boil in Bag Films Nylon PET. Used in soy sauce packets.3. Dual Ovenable Films (Self Venting or Hermetic Seal)All the above films will freeze except #4 Monolayer OPP. Only the dual ovenable and boil in bag films lend themselves to microwaving.The lamination film process is used to combine the properties of one film with another e.g. Polyester (PET) has good clarity and tinsel strength, but will not seal to itself. Therefore we combine two (2) films one for clarity and strength and the other LLDPE or LDPE for sealant characteristics, freezabilty and reduced tearing or zippering.Remember to contact Barrington Packaging Systems Group about Automated Packaging Equipment
