Having opened the Midlands Office of Recognition in the early summer of 2008 I headed up the Firms Midlands operation for a period, dealing with a variety of positive brand enhancing PR and reputation management work for clients across the UK. I also worked on market and brands strategies for several key clients, working in turn with key national and regional press, radio and TV, to ensure targeted and effective coverage.Assisted with the strategic and operational development of the firm nationally, re-writing operational procedures, manuals and internal documents.

Project manager for a nine month change management and restructuring programme at client firm UPM Raflatac plc. Refined and re-established an out-sourced despatch capability for a 24-hour, 6 day major production facility in the UK, modifying administrative proceedures, removing potentially restrictive practices, and modifying operational structure to deliver significant reductions in annual costs.

Managed the overall integration and relocation of a recent £4.0m acquisition. Identified new premises and took responsibility for the management of all third parties, including landlords, lawyers, utilities, local authorities, removals firms, management and staff, and delivered a completely successful move (within 12 weeks) and below budgeted cost.General Manager of a second business (also newly acquired), and managed the relocation & merger of both these businesses within agreed budgets and timescales (under 5 months). This was again achieved within agreed budgets and timescales, reducing the operating costs of the merged business by over 20% and bringing several new product technologies under one roof, allowing for significant NPD for existing (and new) customers.

Put together an MBI/MBO team of manager/investors to buy specialist label manufacturer Customark (formerly part of Mail-Well Label UK Ltd, below), working with bank to secure initial investment capital and a leading midlands VC to secure further 'acquisitions' investment.

Responsible for the marketing of 3 UK based print brands in a £30m UK Print Division selling in to security, electronics, food and stationery sectors.Led the development of both effective marketing strategies, and a programme of targeted acquisitions in both the UK & US including the acquisition (and subsequent restructuring of), Customark in 1998, and Design-Mark (US, $35m) in early 1999.

Led a multi-faceted inter-divisional NPD project for McKechnie's consumer products (DiY) division in the UK, working with senior management teams from group sister divisions in Automotive and Plastics, and with retailers B&Q, Homebase, and Focus etc. The nine month project resulted in the introduction of several new product ranges by the group's Spur Shelving business unit. Seconded to Germany, to help restructure a group subsidiary, reducing operating costs, streamlining product offer and improving business efficiency.

Recommended changes to senior management and business structure. Helped lead a change management programme, which included both recommending and executing a merger with sister firm DSC (Electrical) in 92. Managed the architectural hardware brands 'House of Rothley' and 'Bel' and responsible for advertising, PR, and NPD, and the successful re-launch of Rothley brand..

Led a complex and highly sensitive Joint Venture project involving Savage Group sister operation Triplex (abrasive components) France, and 3M (US) to distribute 3M (abrasives and tapes) products in the UK and Europe. Led successful acquisition of small family owned manufacturer of related DiY products, where responsibilities included market/commercial due-diligence, and negotiating with the vendor.

Contributed to the survival of this wonderful old family business and manufacture of paint brushes, which today goes from strengh to strengh.
