George Fong Email and Phone Number
Growing up next to an airport has made me live and breathe jet fumes every day of my life so I guess it's safe to say aviation is in my very being. One thing I have learned and been a witness to on a daily basis when working on planes is "you learn something new every day"! A part of the job I love especially when it comes to defect rectifications, troubleshooting, or just straight forward inspections or component changes. I quickly realize no day one is the same as the next. Being part of the largest Airline in the South Pacific has really diversified and honed my skills set as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, where I worked from the ever classic Twin Otters to some of the most sophisticated aircraft of our time in the form of the A350s. Then 2020 happened and I and other colleagues of mine had to diversify our trades as we were all let go because of "an act of God". Through the "grace of God" I managed to find employment in the only Pharmaceutical Company in the South Pacific in Douglas Pharmaceuticals. Never in my life had I thought I would be working in the pharmaceutical industry but as a machine operator it gave me insight on how similar the quality systems are so paramount because we both deal with people's lives. Also, it allowed me the opportunity for my mechanical inquisitive mind to learn these machines and apply my disciplines as an aircraft mechanic in its maintenance, troubleshooting, serviceability, and process improvements for maximum production and minimizing downtime and breakdowns. My tenure at Douglas has allowed my hands to be always in contact as a swordsman would say is the extension of his arm is the sword and in turn for myself a spanner. February 2022 has turned over a 3 leaved clover by beginning work as an AME at Fijis largest ground handler Air Terminal Services Fiji Ltd. Breathing and living aviation again has got me excited again as to what the future holds. IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK!* Aircraft fleet Experience: ATR42/72-600, DHC6 300/400, B737NG/MAX, B747-400, B767-300, A330-200/300 & A350, BN2A, C152/172/206/208, PT6A-28 HSI.
