Managing incidents, accidents and emergencies affecting the operational railway in liaison with colleagues in Network Rail, customer organisation and other agencies. Co-ordinate the response of infrastructure and operational incidents including recovery of normal train service and input to management of relevant information and communication systems.

Tasked to attend a variety of failures, ranging from carrying out auxiliary duties to being the Rail Incident Officer at a major incident, utilising the knowledge and skills gained through NR designed training courses to deal with these situations effectively. Working with an embedded British Transport Police officer, we deliver a dedicated and effective response to all real time railway incidents, and undertake proactive patrol and disruptive tasking in collaboration as part of an Emergency Intervention Unit.

Manage the assurance and compliance processes within the delivery unit. Monitor and report on asset performance, reliability, productivity, efficiency and compliance. Make recommendations that will improve business performance.

Assist the Section Manager in the inspection, maintenance and renewal of assets to standards and within agreed resource levels, budget and unit cost measures. Supervise the delivery of work and undertake specific inspections as required. Assist in the management of staff as directed.

Provide support to the Team Leader to organise and motivate the team so that work is undertaken safely, efficiently and to the relevant standards. Undertake inspection, faulting, maintenance and renewal work as allocated. Where directed, act as Team Leader.

Level 3 Signals and Telecoms apprenticeship completing a year in HMS Collingwood training centre. The following two years working with Reading S&T faulting and maintenance, learning about the operational railway and how to work safely and efficiently.
