In 2023 the Data Science team merged with the BI team to form a unified Data team. This shift transitioned the team from focusing on large, singular project managing multiple smaller projects simultaneously. My primary focus in this role is the long-term planning of effective data models, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and usability across the organisation. Additionally, I am responsible for building data sets to support analysis activities and maintain the data warehouse from a business perspective.

As a key member of the newly established Data Science department, my role focused on designing and developing core data pipelines and structures to deliver key customer insights to business stakeholders. Early on, it became clear that foundational work was crucial to achieving the organization's long-term vision and strategy. Reporting directly to the Head of Data Science, I was responsible for recommending a series of foundational changes, including:• A tactical solution, built on a SQL Server database, hosted on a windows Azure VM. Solely responsible for design, build and management and auditing, this interim solution was utilised to support the Data Science team across all projects (e.g. Segmentation, Retention, Customer Churn) during the planning multiyear implementation of an enterprise grade Single Source of Truth (SSOT).• Collaborating on business case development for SSOT, including an intensive 3-month discovery phase with multiple vendors. This process ensured an in-depth analysis of critical deliverables for a comprehensive project life cycle estimate.• Leading the design and build of the SSOT (utilising Snowflake, DBT and ADF). The successful completion of which centralised the MMSG data for the first time in the organisation’s history.• Worked with IT to build out Snowflake audit logs to support monthly compliance checks.• Supervising a team of 5 professionals, including Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Business Analysts, and Testers. Responsible for overseeing both project-based initiatives and day-to-day operations.In summary, this role encompasses strategic decision-making, technical expertise, and effective team management to drive the design, development, and successful implementation of critical data infrastructure solutions in alignment with the organization's goals.
