Aspiring PE Teacher.My love for sports has always resided within me, particularly football. I have played football since the age of 4 and have been lucky enough to play in some amazing stadiums such as Bristol City’s and play in prestigious competitions such as the FA Cup at youth level. During my sporting career, I have captained teams and facilitated training sessions which taught me how to keep an entire team engaged. I thoroughly enjoy taking a commanding role within a team.From the age of 17, I have worked in the leisure industry, most notably lifeguarding. This has taught me many transferable skills which will be beneficial for me when coaching. The main skill this has made me develop is safeguarding. Being in a new exciting environment can be overwhelming for children and it opens many dangers for them, whether they are aware of that or not. So, over the past four years, I have been able to create and refine my ability to spot potential hazards which could be problematic. This allows for everyone to have an enjoyable but safe time. Due to my job, I also have completed a first aid course and have regular training in this.My job has also allowed me to work on many different events such as sports days, county athletic events and family fun days. For myself, this was an enjoyable but valuable experience as I was able to work around different sports.Throughout my time at university, I have operated and developed a team of 12 young males where we work together and aid each other in completing both individual and shared goals. During assessed workshops which we had to create, I chose the topics of motivation and resilience. I chose these two topics because they are ones I can relate to closely and they are topics which I have always strived for excellence. In addition, I believe that they are integral life skills which anybody can benefit from. I believe that by promoting good habits within the team, I have become a positive role model for the group. This position is something I want to keep expanding on so that one day I can have a team of my own and inspire them too. All throughout university, I have been a team player, and this has allowed me to build upon relationships with colleagues to promote growth within individuals. I have a firm belief that everyone should be involved in a sport, whether that be a team or individual one due to the transferrable skills it can provide someone with. Overall, I am a confident and resilient individual who aims to spread the importance of sport and transferable skills to a younger generation.
