I wear many hats at ICSolutions, a company that provides telephone service to city, county, state, and privately run correctional facilities. My primary responsibility is leading a team of motivated and talented systems engineers in providing our customers with a high quality product.Our role begins with defining the hardware and configuring the software for each new install, working closely with the sales team to ensure that ICSolutions delivers a product that best fits the customer's needs. There is no one-size-fits all solution for our customers so I consider traditional telco (POTS / T1 / PRI), VoIP (SIP), and hybrids when designing a solution. I travel occasionally to install many of our highest profile systems.Beyond the install we handle escalations from tech support, define defects, coordinate with developers to develop patches, and finally deploy new releases into production. The software I support is primarily C and PHP with some Javascript. I also collaborate with our DBA team to build, maintain, and optimize our PostgreSQL servers.I am passionate about constantly improving our product and how we build it. As we've grown, we've faced challenges in scaling and managing our servers. I've solved these challenges by implementing a Yum repository, Puppet configuration management, and Kickstart based build system. I've also written scripts (BASH and Python) to back up our databases and servers, report on performance, and alert on errors.Recently I've been managing our Dell Equallogic storage and expansion into a new data center.

I create technical solutions for the Executive Vice President. One of my major accomplishments was automating the collection of sales leads. I discovered that office staff was spending hours searching for leads in web sites or PDF documents and manually entering those leads into SalesForce. I created Python scripts to automate the lead gathering, multiplying the collection rate and allowing the staff to focus on winning new business. These scripts have leveraged BeautifulSoup for HTML parsing and tkinter for user interfaces.
