Cargill's ambition is to have the most sustainable food supply chains in the world. As a member of the Global Impact Team, I partner with Cargill's business enterprises to support the execution of our environmental sustainability programs, with a focus on transforming our supply chains to be deforestation free and on scaling Nature Based Solutions.

Orange Silicon Valley is a US subsidiary of Orange, the leading multinational telecommunications and digital services corporation with 266 million customers in 32 countries. Orange serves consumers across Europe and Africa, as well as enterprise customers around the globe. I led a strategic innovation program on sustainability, including corporate climate action, digital agriculture and supply chain.

In this role, I worked with stakeholders across Texas to help develop the State Flood Assessment. In response to the catastrophic impacts of Hurricane Harvey, this was the first ever effort to determine the need for systematic statewide flood planning for climate adaptation and resilience.

The following are selective and full-time transitional positions to prepare PhD scientists for impactful careers outside of academia: Insight Data Science Fellow, Insight, Palo Alto, CA (2017-2018): Training in industry data science, machine learning and product design. Built a data analytics tool for homebuyers to estimate the energy efficiency of prospective homes.AAAS Policy Fellow, U.S. Dept. of Energy, Washington D.C. (2016-2017): On the Sunshot team at the Dept. of Energy, I supported solar energy adoption through the development and management of a multi-million dollar portfolio of awards to national labs, non-profits, state/local governments, universities, financial institutions and startups. Focus areas included community solar programs and integrating solar panel arrays with agriculture.Summer Fellow, Breakthrough Institute, Oakland, CA (2016): Breakthrough is a sustainability think tank. Over a summer here, I analyzed the energy use and environmental impact tradeoffs associated with technological change in agriculture.

Big data analytics for the $7 billion California citrus industry. Built relationships between growers, state regulators, and University of California research and extension programs.

Biodiversity in oil palm and coffee landscapes. Wrote grants and received $196,000 in National Science Foundation and university funding. Analyzed data in GIS, R, SQL and Python and wrote and published twelve scientific articles.
