The Philadelphia Parks Alliance is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to serving Philadelphia's public spaces. The mission of the Parks Alliance is to champion the public’s interest in outstanding parks, recreation, and open spaces - key to making Philadelphia a healthy, vibrant and sustainable city for all.In 2016, we launched the Recreation Community Initiative. Though that program, the Parks Alliance partners with more than 150 recreation centers and playgrounds in Philadelphia. At each site, we work with recreation staff and neighborhood volunteers to build Advisory Councils that fundraise, develop programs, and maintain the sites. Since starting in 2015, we grew the Parks Alliance from a one-person parks advocacy non-profit, to a robust team dedicated to programming, community organizing, fundraising, and advocacy. In my time at the Alliance, we quadrupled our annual revenue and developed a team of professionals dedicated to improving the lives of Philadelphians through public spaces.
