Principal Child Support Officer
CurrentReview cases, initiate action to establish child support, medical support, and/or paternity, and prepare cases for ongoing enforcement activities.Interpret court orders.Conduct client interviews involving sensitive issues and explain program requirements.Verify clients' financial resources, negotiate payment agreements, and calculate child support obligations.Prepare case facts and review cases with the County Attorney's Office for legal action.Participate in court hearings, and make recommendations regarding child support and/or paternity.Enter/retrieve data on computer systems and maintain case records.Initiate legal action to collect past due support.Petition jurisdictions outside Minnesota to obtain or enforce child support orders.Work with third parties (private attorneys, financial institutions, other jurisdictions, etc.) to secure child support.Assure appropriate distribution of payments.Prepare documents and respond to inquiries.
