My responsibilities within this role consist of: general maintenance and upkeep of the data center, thinking of new ways to improve existing and new installs into the data halls, monitoring of both M&E and I.C.T systems; troubleshooting where necessary and liaising with clients and ensuring their tasks are completed to the required standard. I’m also required to oversee the contractors still working on the building site to make sure they work in a safe way for them and the people around them.

Working within the data center environment on a shift pattern of 4 days on, 4 days off, 4 nights on, 4 nights off. My tasks include: performing daily health checks, dealing with break fix incident tickets, installing new hardware and cabling, configuring the IP on newly installed servers. Also responsible for raising the requests and making sure they have all the required information to go ahead. Another task is to do a daily floor walk and fill in a checklist to make sure the data center is kept clean and tidy.

Moves and changes for clients such as: RBS, UBS, DLG and NSPCC among others. These moves included standard working desks, office equipment and traders desks.

Working within the data center environment performing daily health checks, dealing with break fix incident tickets, installing new hardware and cabling. We were also responsible for keeping the data center in a high quality condition by carrying out daily floor walks to make sure nothing had been broken or damaged.

During my time with Curran IT I familiarised myself with pulling in and terminating copper and fibre cables. I worked on a host of different sites each posing different challenges. Some of the biggest include a complete upgrade on The Bank of England's fibre cabling. Another large project was a new build for Deutsche Bank in Paris- this required us to complete all the backbone cabling and cabling across the floors.

Working on site as an apprentice carpenter. Learning to use tools and other skills required. This role also included non technical work like cleaning and labouring.
