As a key member of an HP Steady State Program Management Office, led several information technology outsourcing (ITO) initiatives on a $50 million contract with AbbVie. Steered delayed efforts back on schedule to meet critical client deadlines, ensured that projects completed under budget, and managed scope expectations. Recognized by HP and AbbVie leadership for owning processes and problem management, and for driving complex projects and initiatives to successful completion.

As a client-facing task order manager, led the on-site team that provided HP’s support of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) Columbus client. In that role, held responsibility for a $4.25 million annual profit center, creating margin enhancement plans, financial forecasts, and successful proposals for US Public Sector business unit. Known for providing high-quality, responsive staffing support within DFAS’ budget.

As a production environment manager, led a three-shift team across five geographical locations supporting the Electronic Document Management (EDM) system, a commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) product which HP customized extensively, meeting the specific business needs of DFAS. Initiated and directed upgrades to the EDM hardware and software suites, increasing system reliability, redundancy, and uptime. Was recognized on several occasions for thought leadership and technical innovation by DFAS senior management.

As a member of the on-site Electronic Data Systems team at the flagship EDM implementation site, I installed and administered HP-UX servers; EMC2 Redundant Array of Independent Disk (RAID) storage; fax servers for inbound and outbound document transmission; and Kodak scanners supported by Sun Solaris workstations. I supported the DFAS Omaha leadership and team during integration and acceptance testing phases. I provided first-line customer support for production problems, resolution of system performance issues; and change management for new releases. I also worked with DFAS functional users to optimize their business processes using enabling technologies such as Oracle Reports and Cognos Impromptu and PowerPlay. Based on the success of the Omaha implementation, I was also asked to travel to DFAS implementation sites in Indianapolis and Columbus to join the deployment teams.I coded several modules in C, using a proprietary application programming interface (API) to export data to an Oracle report instances, and several canned reports used by managers and supervisors to track EDM activity. I configured the report database refresh on a periodic basis, using both cron scheduling in UNIX and Oracle DBMS_SCHEDULER. I created a user query tool using the Apache Web server and Perl/PHP connecting to an Oracle database. As part of the Oracle Certified Professional curriculum, I studied Oracle database administration and performance tuning, and was able to recommend and implement performance enhancements which decreased database system load by 10%.
