  • Hudson Products Corporation
    Project Manager
Hudson Products Corporation Nov 2007 - Feb 2009
Hudson Products was a manufacturer of what many people know of as Fin Fans, or Air Cooled Heat Exchangers. These heat exchangers were typically used in refineries throughout the world. This was a wonderful job and I enjoyed the great interaction with our clients and members on the Project Team. The job was highly focused on giving the customer exactly what they specified with a highly competitive price. Many of our clients came to Hudson because we were the acknowledged leaders in the business… Show more Hudson Products was a manufacturer of what many people know of as Fin Fans, or Air Cooled Heat Exchangers. The job was highly focused on giving the customer exactly what they specified with a highly competitive price. Many of our clients came to Hudson because we were the acknowledged leaders in the business and were one of the very few companies that could deliver to the requirements of the job. This job required responding to the myriad of technical specifications in the RFQ with a well thought out proposal. Once these proposals turned into a job I had managerial responsibilities working with every department at Hudson to ensure the product left Hudson Products on time and in our customary high quality fashion. • Plastomer Technologies - Texolon Division
    Manufacturing/Product/ Process/ R & D Engineer
Plastomer Technologies - Texolon Division Aug 2005 - Nov 2007
In 2006, Enpro bought Amicon and placed that company into the Plastomer Technologies division. Texolon was already in the Plastomer fold. Texolon's specilaity was the Fluoropolymer gasketing and sealing. Some of the gaskets made were very large and required the use of a large dual table CNC router which I bought to help accomplish this feat. I learned about Lean Manufacturing at Plastomer Technologies. I learned about Lean Manufacturing at Plastomer Technologies. We immediately formed teams to solve the most costly problem areas of manufacturing. I was very involved in these and was group leader on many of those teams. I evaluated cells, did Baseline Assessments/Value Stream Analysis, Set-Up Reduction, Pull Material Replenishment and Established Performance Metrics. The bottom line was this: we reduced scrap, reduced production time, reduced raw materials and product inventory. Typical engineering duties included stabilizing the processes, making improvements in productivity and safety. Show less
  • Plastomer Technologies - Amicon Plastics
    Chief Engineer
Plastomer Technologies - Amicon Plastics Jun 1998 - Jul 2005
I was the engineer at Amicon. Initially, the company’s bread and butter came from compression molding PTFE or what many people call TEFLON, a DuPont brand name. I fully developed the Wet Bag ISO-Static Molding process. This process allowed our company to make large unusual shaped billets where great reductions in materials could be gained. We made many interesting shapes that saved the customers money and helped both Amicon and our clients gain competitive market advantages. Amicon was known… Show more I was the engineer at Amicon. Amicon was known for being one of the largest PTFE billet manufacturers. Our largest billets would weigh over 900 pounds and many of these billets were skived into thin continuous sheets of film 60 inches wide. I developed and stabilized the automatic molding operation and turned it from a flailing “tail wagging the dog” operation into a nicely profitable cell. Before I forget, I have to mention I also developed processes involving the molding of large billets of PEEK and PCTFE. Later on, Amicon grew successfully with one of the booms in semiconductor. We were a preferred custom order job shop for Applied Materials and their many sub-tiered suppliers. This was a good job that required many engineering disciplines. I developed and stabilized many of the processes still used today. As the engineer, I played the sole role in the design of parts and developed the processes and tooling necessary to manufacture these parts to the customer specifications. For all the processes mentioned above, I had complete process control and tooling design responsibilities. Show less
  • International Polymer Corporation
    Process And Design Engineer
International Polymer Corporation Feb 1997 - Apr 1998
This company was my first experience in fluoropolymers. I learned a lot about PTFE (TEFLON) and PPS (Ryton) as well as using these materials to form exotic composites. What I learned here carried me into my next job at Amicon Plastics. International Polymer was a small company and was bought by another international corporation.
