Software Architect And Senior Software EngineerSolid Value Software, Llc (Svs) Apr 2022 - PresentApril 2023 - present: For Solid Value Software -- Designed a Data Integration App requirements spec, API and architecture. Learned basics of BPM Notation, Camunda, & EA Integration via the Master Data Model. Started the #swtccc LinkedIn hashtag. Studied Azure IoT Operations Preview, ISA95 and Industry 4.0, plus how to implement on Azure IoT Hub & IoT Edge. Studied 11/2023 major update of the Azure Well-Architected Framework for IoT, Mission Critical, and Sustainable workloads. Explored and designed software architecture for Event Streaming technologies such as Azure Event Hubs, Kafka, etc. combined with real time analytics, plus the Azure IoT Hub and its IoT Edge. These technologies are used in typical "Software That Counteracts Climate Change" (swtccc) applications that are my goal to design and build in the coming months and years. This builds on the IoT experience gained in 2017 developing the Azure IoT Wind Farm Reference Implementation described below.Jan 2023 - April 2023: For Solid Value Software -- Developed a messaging based telemetry processing Proof-of-Concept (POC) in C# .NET using multiple ASP.NET Core WebAPI and gRPC services, Dapr Service Invocation, Dapr Pubsub, native Azure Service Bus Topics, and Dapr Actors for small telemetry processing networks and Device Twins. Sept 2022 - Dec 2022: For Solid Value Software -- Passed the Microsoft recertification exam for Azure Developer (204). Explored Azure Container Apps capabilities. Used Bridge to Kubernetes and Visual Studio to extend the capabilities of a multi-service, Daprized ASP.NET gRPC based POC (using the Code First gRPC library) running on AKS. April 2022 - August 2022: For a client of Solid Value Software, as a Software Architect did the high level design of a system-of-systems in the SaaS realm for hosting on AWS, plus the detailed design of key data objects. The primary author (input from Product Owner) of a Solution Specification document for a new software system.

Software Architect And Sr. Software EngineerSolid Value Software, Llc (Svs) Oct 2016 - Apr 2022March 2020 - April 2022 (Pandemic): For SVS, 2020 - Developed a serverless reference implementation in .NET Core 3.x with Azure Functions, Durable Functions & Entities, Sagas. 2021 - Learned Dapr, containers, Kubernetes, AKS, ASP.NET Core gRPC services, Helm via reading and coding several reference implementations for microservices that can run anywhere.April 2018 - February 2020: Studied, worked code examples for Azure 70-535 & 70-532 certifications. Developed Service Fabric services, plus reference implementations using Azure features like Key Vault, Blobs, etc. Passed the MS Certified Azure Developer exam (Az 203) in 11/19. Developed a Messaging Gateway for Azure queues. Developed a reference implementation for Microsoft Durable Task Extension, plus Azure Durable Functions. September 2017 - January 2018: Attended the 1 week IDesign Project Design Clinic. Developed example project plans for cloud based systems using several small teams working in parallel for use as a reference plans for SVS.October 2016 - August 2017: Attended Microsoft Ignite 2016, taking Azure classes for 5 days. Developed a high scale Wind Farm Industrial IoT Back End Reference Architecture and proof-of-concept software for parts of it for SVS. Gathered and analyzed the requirements (use cases & quality requirements). Used IDesign Method & volatility-based decomposition to partition the architecture into several systems, each composed of microservices communicating via messaging, forming a system of microservice-based systems. Architecture focuses on the control of industrial IoT devices via Device Shadows (Twins) implemented as Azure Service Fabric Actors. Used the following Azure technologies in the reference architecture: IoT Hub, Stream Analytics, Logic Apps, WebAPI, Service Fabric Stateless Services & Actors. See the system data flow diagram at https://dotnetsilverlightprism.wordpress.com/2017/01/31/why-i-like-modeling-iot-devices-with-azure-service-fabric-actors/.

Software ArchitectWipcode, Llc May 2016 - Jul 2016For a contract software development project as a software architect, gathered client requirements and designed a micro-service based architecture for a hybrid system to support mobile devices. The design consisted of a set of new Azure Cloud Services supporting the mobile devices and talking to a set of legacy on-premises WCF services, plus modifications to the legacy on-premises services to support the new cloud micro-services.Key requirements for the architecture were high scalability and high availability. These were met in part by the use of Azure WorkerRoles, Azure Service Bus Queues and Topics, other Azure services, plus detailing the requirements for fault tolerance, fail over, and disaster recovery. Also included in the architecture were a set of "utility services" for cross cutting concerns like security, health monitoring, auditing, fail over and disaster recovery, etc. From the architecture, produced a set of software development activities and their dependencies which were used by the Project Manager to develop a project plan. Also outlined a staged development process from these aimed at reducing the steepness of the Azure learning curve for the client's development staff, many new to Azure.

Software ArchitectWipcode, Llc Oct 2015 - Feb 2016As software architect on a contract development project, gathered customer requirements and designed the high level, technology agnostic, modular software architectural vision of a new service oriented cloud based Internet-of-Things medical software product, from the Field Gateways for IoT devices to the backend services. Delivered the architecture and its proof-of-concept software on schedule.Accompanying the UX team, did on-site interviews with our client's customers in 5 sites across the US to gather requirements for the new software product.Designed the high level system architecture for the cloud using the IDesign Method volatility based partitioning of the system into extensible, composable modules and microservices having high scalability and availability. Coordinated the efforts of a principal software engineer who, in 2 weeks, built an end-to-end proof-of-concept of the architecture using Azure WorkerRoles and Service Bus Queues, and did throughput and cloud scale out testing.

Software Architect And Sr. Software EngineerWipcode, Llc Jan 2014 - Sep 2014As solution architect on a contract development project, developed the initial version of an advanced software product in the Financial Services industry. Used .Net 4.5, WCF, MSMQ, ServiceModelEx Pub/Subs and Entity Framework on the server, with MVC4 as the UI technology. First, did the requirements analysis and use case driven software architecture. Then developed a prototype myself, hired a development team of 3 developers, started the dev team in using Scrum, and led the team in developing the initial version of the software. After the prototype was complete in addition to the architect role, acted as technical manager of the project, along with doing some business process analysis, product definition, detailed requirements and design, and user interface definition. For work history prior to this please contact me for a resume.
