Senior Director, Learning SystemsByju'S Feb 2021 - Mar 2022Bangalore Urban, Karnataka, IndiaA project executed by our foundation, Nabachika, on Visual-Arts and Early Childhood Learning attracted the attention of Byjus and in 2021, I accepted an offer to help build the concept as a new global product. It was a unique approach to building critical thinking in children through the medium of Art, Design & Animation. I was brought onboard to conceptualize and develop the product, prove a market fit, and architect the curriculum infrastructure for scale. I also built and trained the various teams instrumental in building the product, such as Curriculum, Teacher-Training and Student-Experience teams. Once the product was launched and began generating revenue, I chose to resign and resume work with Nabachika and Ideasutra.AS AN ASIDE: I still keep in touch with teams from my time here. They are a fantastic group of educators and media professionals, so if you are looking for top talent that knows how to build out curriculums from scratch, reach out and i'll introduce you. -
Entrepreneur (And Innovation Consultant)Self-Employed 2002 - 2012Consulted across verticals on design and innovation related projects. During this time, I also built a few ventures.* Built a Graphics BPO. It soared for a while and horribly crashed.* Developed an early 3D Human Anatomy product. It never took off.* Built an Enterprise SAAS Idea Management System. This also failed to take off.

Head, Information ArchitectureIvista Digital Solutions Oct 2000 - Jul 2002I joined iVista as the Head of Design for New Media and Web Application development. The most significant project undertaken under this role was to help Titan Industries launch their web presence. We worked with the then MD Mr.Xerxes Desai and his team to launch Titan's first online product catalog and store.I also represented iVista on the eHealth project at the Cincinnati Childrens Medical Centre (CCHMC) as the Head of Information Architecture for the project. My team and myself worked on location to help develop a structured patient information system including a specialized metadata schema that was designed to help patients and caregivers access critical information effectively.

Creative Director, UxNetkraft 1998 - 2000I joined Netkraft as a Creative Director for the then budding 'web portals' category. This was during the Dotcom boom, and I worked on several different web properties ranging from Pet Services to Entertainment Portals (Which in those days were a grab bag of news, games, quizzes and whatnot. Sites such as Buzzfeed are a descendant of that category). The most significant project that I worked on was for a B2B Ecommerce portal for Rubber Products. For the pitch, I visualised the potential business rules using methods such as design fiction and rapid prototyping using static HTML pages. Peter Morville's famous Polar Bear book released during my time at Netkraft. I applied what I learned about IA at work and I carried the knowledge and experience from such projects into my next career destination.

Art DirectorVaspar Technologies 1997 - 1998Vaspar was one of the leading retail POP infrastructure and accessories manufacturer for the Country at the time. I joined Vaspar as the Head of Design and primarily worked on design development of retail kiosks, vending and display systems. During my time here, I 'computerised' several aspects of the production workflow. For instance, introducing 3D visualisation to the organisation's work process helped cut down valuable time spent on approvals of early prototypes by customers.

Interaction DesignerEmpower Multimedia Apr 1993 - Jun 1996IndiaEmpower was a multimedia company, meaning, they created programs that were distributed on CD-ROMS. The programs were largely informational or educational. Our Bangalore team was the offshore development centre for this US based company, which saw us create projects such as Firearms Saftey training for American Police forces using Video modules delivered via CD-ROMS.Empower's gift to me was to introduce me to graphical computing. I joined them as a cartoonist and transitioned into a Interaction Designer. I used tools such as the early version of Adobe's Photoshop and Autodesk's 3D Studio 4 to develop graphics. I used tools such as Macromedia's Authorware to author basic multimedia programs.
