I currently provide assessment and management of communication and swallowing disorders arising from a wide range of underlying disorders, primarily stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, dementia and respiratory disease. I provide services to inpatients, outpatients, and perform home visits. I have developed the following skills in this position:• Able to work in multidisciplinary teams with other hospital staff and carers• Management of a complex caseload (including global aphasia, dementia, and degenerative neurological conditions)• Supported carer and client’s acceptance and understanding of the presenting complex condition and its ongoing impact• Developed and successfully implemented innovative education programs for nursing homes and carers• Able to provide effective therapy and build a strong rapport with patients aged 65 years and over• Effective implementation of low and high tech AAC • Successfully supervised 3rd year student placements and junior staff

I worked in a private clinic as well as servicing a variety of ages in the Western suburbs of Melbourne. In this position I developed the following skills:• Increased ability to work autonomously• Exceptional time management skills and able to manage paperwork and financial transactions• Managed a caseload of complex clients (visually impairment, ASD, auditory processing and mental health issues)• Independently created speech pathology programs and screening tools for school environments• Able to independently use FaHCSIA and HealthKit online systems
