Irish Research Council Employment-Based PhD Programme Scholar with University of Galway and National Parks & Wildlife Services as Mayo Dark Sky Park Development Officer, specialising in Dark Sky Tourism. My research into light pollution and dark sky development in the West of Ireland, led me to establish Mayo Dark Skies community group and prepare the application for International Dark Sky recognition of Mayo Dark Sky Park, working with stakeholders NPWS, Coillte, Mayo County Council, Fáilte Ireland and GMIT Mayo we successfully achieved with a Gold Tier Award in May 2016. Co-Founder of Terra Firma Ireland, Newport Mayo based social enterprise for sustainable dark sky tourism experiences in stargazing, hiking and outdoor education. Freelance hillwalking guide and trainer | project & event manager for environmental and tourism projects in the West of Ireland. Past projects include the Original Ghostbus Tour of Dublin, The International Magic Convention in London and a wide scope of project management experience in my career as Operations Director. After almost 20 years in financial services in London & Dublin leading to senior management roles, I used redundancy as an opportunity to make a complete lifestyle change and followed my aspirations for a new career in development of environmental tourism and moved to County Mayo.
