About Georgia Watson
In 2023 I joined the iAccelerate team as the LIFT Project Coordinator, supporting the $1M LIFT grant which aims to "lift as you climb", removing barriers for Women in STEM and entrepreneurship to succeed in their careers. LIFT stands for Learn, Flourish, Ignite, Transform - the four pillars of our program which involve partnerships between academia, industry and community.Science Communication is my chosen path to contribute to a safe climate for all, pursuing leadership through the Women in STEMM leadership initiative Homeward Bound to help me chase this dream. I'm a member of Team HB8, the last cohort to visit Antarctica as part of our global meet up. Follow along my leadership, SciComm and Antarctic journey over on my insta @BrightEcology - because the future is bright ☀️Previously, I was a research officer in terrestrial ecology with the ARC SRI Securing Antarctica's Environmental Future, studying the biology of Antarctic moss, writing for scientific and lay audiences and communicating science to a broad audience. This led to a research trip to Casey Station in 2022, a science-art exhibition later the same year and becoming an Ambassador for the Antarctic Science Foundation for the 2022/2023 season. I am a proud UOW Alumni and give back to my community through science communication and outreach events. Everyone can be a scientist, everyone has something worthwhile to give.
