Some careers are not so linear. The world throws you curveballs (opportunities) to leverage your experience to diversify, reinvent and make an impact. I would like to think I have been successful in doing just that. I was born in Hong Kong and educated in Australia where I started my career in Marketing with consumer brands Jim Beam, Nikon and Haier/Fisher & Paykel (and some other roles that supported a sea-change to sunny Queensland, Australia). In 2015, I returned to Hong Kong as a Global Executive Search consultant to expand my business perspective into the people function. Having spent six years interviewing some of Asia’s most sought-after Executives, and partnering with some of the world’s most reputable employers, I learned how the most successful leaders navigated market challenges, rolled out industry-changing strategies, and earned the respect of their teams in order to make this happen.Not only that, I also recognised a universal gripe with the recruitment industry. For a people-focused sector, the normalised approach is exceptionally transactional. Solutions designed to broaden reach or speed up the process only made the experience increasingly less human.With these insights under my belt, I became a Co-Founder of wykr (who you know referrals) - a p2p referral recruitment platform - where I worked with developers, designers, marketers and customers to bring to market a product solution that rehumanises the way we find and assess talent and career opportunities, at a digital scale.Today, I leverage my cross-functional experience across marketing, operations, product, partnerships, and employer branding to develop and execute insight-driven tactics that drive customer acquisition, user engagement, and brand loyalty.Follow me for my thoughts on feminine leadership, non-traditional careers, and productivity tips.
