For over 20 years I worked in a laboratory environment. I began my career as a part time lab tech at an analytical laboratory while attending college. Over the years at that lab, I worked in all sections (organic, metal, wet chemistry, bacteriology)-wherever I was needed. After finishing my Master’s degree, while searching for full time work, I was asked to work at that same analytical lab to cover for an employee who took the summer off. Next, I began my employment at Coastal Bioanalysts, Inc, an aquatic toxicology lab specializing in toxicity testing, where I stayed for 24 years. I began my journey there as a part time lab tech, and eventually worked my way up to Lab Manager.I developed an excellent understanding of different types of laboratory techniques and safety practices while working in the industry. Especially as a lab tech, I was adept at multitasking, meeting deadlines, and working both independently and as a team. As a manager, I also became knowledgeable about managing supplies, equipment, and employees.I am currently employed by AH Environmental Consultants as a Scientist. Thus far, I have been involved in Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans and also working in our laboratory.Some of my skills include: using, maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment, employee supervision and training, customer service, time management, collaborating with others, quality control, data entry, and updating and editing SWPPPs.
