As an associate professor at the University of East London (UEL), I lead the nursing associate and apprenticeship programmes, as well as a team of health lecturers who deliver courses for the BSc Adult and FdSc nursing associate degrees. I have over 20 years of experience in higher education teaching, research, and administration, with a background in physiology and health care management.I am passionate about enhancing the experiential practice learning experience for nursing students through clinical skills and simulated learning. I have taken both pre and post registration courses through the validation process, including independent and supplementary prescribing. I am also committed to advancing the nurse skills in the undergraduate curriculum to meet the level of European and US markets. Additionally, I am the race network chair for the university office for institutional equity, and previously the co-chair of the healthcare academics race equality diversity inclusivity network (HAREDIN) at , Middlesex University. I am a senior fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA), and a volunteer fellow of the Global Health Lecturers Volunteer Fellows. Recently, 2024, the team comprising of Nurse lecturers, GPs & PAs went to Zimbabwe to teach at the local school of nursing in Mpilo Bulawayo and ran outreach clinics at the Victoria Falls, Masuwe area. The project was both enlightening and challenging from liaising with government officials to people on the ground to organising supplies and equipment as well as recruiting the team members.
