Georgina graduated with a 1st class BMus (hons) degree as a principle study recorder player and second study baroque violinist and was nominated for the academic achievement award upon graduation. The following year, thanks to a scholarship from the Drapers Company she successfully graduated with a master’s degree from The Guildhall.Currently studying for a PhD in music education, partly funded by The Guildhall, her research is focused on the social status of the recorder and how informal learning practices mixed with an awareness of good instrumental technique could positively affect the social status of the instrument in classrooms, concert halls and society. As a result of her continuing research, Georgina has presented her work at both The Amsterdam Conservatoire and The Guildhall.As a soloist, Georgina has performed at the East Cork Early Music Festival, The Carl Dolmetsch Centenary Celebrations and The Tel Aviv Conference on Early Music. As a chamber musician, Georgina has won the June Emerson Launch Pad Prize for emerging young talent and the Fiori Musicalli recital prize. She was a featured artist for the Wigmore Hall’s Chamber Tots Programme and currently plays with the recorder consort Woodwork who’s output include educational tours of Scotland and performances including King’s Place, London and The City of London Festival.Georgina is also a member of the Irish band, Gor Jus Wrex who have recorded with EMI and can be found on the Ultimate St. Patrick’s Day Party Album.Georgina is passionate about music education and has worked with the London Symphony Orchestra, Barbican Centre and Guildhall Creative Learning Department. She has also been involved in the trialling and editing of MusicBabies for Recorder. Georgina is currently Head of Music at Biddenham Upper School in Bedfordshire and has also worked with both the Bedford Music Hub and Bedfordshire Music Trust to facilitate large-scale educational projects and performances.
