I view myself as a life adventurer and learner, inspired by diverse expressions of human beings, mainly science, arts and philosophy. I believe in intellectual curiosity and hard-work as the means to achieve individual and collective progress. In a more conventional biography, for 25 years I have been pursuing a dual career: as a Technology Practitioner and as a Researcher and University Lecturer. As a practitioner, I have worked in both “technology-providers” and “technology-consumers” in a spectrum of roles: hands-on software development, automated legacy systems re-engineering, Project Management of numerous large IT projects and “thought-leading” roles in IT Strategy & Governance, Service Management and Product Management. I am still an active practitioner in those areas as a Consultant to a number of companies. Moreover, I have been acting as the Advisor to the CEO of Empedus, responsible for ServiceNow Services Delivery and Corporate Strategy, contributing in the firm’s leading position as a premier ServiceNow partner. In this role, I have led or co-led the successful delivery of many ServiceNow implementation projects. As a lecturer, since 2013, I am a Senior Lecturer (initially Visiting) at the Department of Computer Science at Royal Holloway, University of London, where I developed the “IT Project Management” and “Business Intelligence Systems, Infrastructures and Technologies” modules. Moreover, I lead “Code Groovers”, the software company in the Department of which students are the main software developers - a pioneering initiative, one of only a few in the UK, which was recognized as a “Best Practice” by the British Computer Society (BCS) in 2019.From 2001 to 2021, I had also been teaching at the Department of Computer Science, University of Leicester, where I became a Honorary Visiting Fellow in 2009, leading the “Financial Services Information Systems” and the “Business & Financial Computing” modules. As a researcher, I have published more than 30 scientific papers on software architectures, legacy systems reengineering, project management and human factors of software engineering. My PhD thesis, titled “Mentality Patterns: Recurring Turns of Mind as First-Class Concerns in Software Engineering”, was a pioneering work in software teams leadership, combining Software Engineering with sociopsychological disciplines.Finally, I am certified as a Prince2 Practitioner in Project Management, AgilePM Practitioner and ISO/IEC 20 000 Lead Implementer. I am also a Senior Fellow (SFHEA) of the UK Higher Education Academy
