Grid Raven's goal is to help increase grid transmission capacity by 30% globally by 2030, which could bring the energy transition forward by a decade. The power grid is becoming a bottleneck in the transition to clean energy, but the existing grid has not yet reached its maximum potential. Grid Raven is building a digital twin of the grid and an extremely detailed AI weather forecasting model that will enable grid operators to have a detailed overview of the condition of their network, so as to better manage the amount of power the grid can really handle at a given time. Our tool set will help unlock the maximum potential of transmission and distribution assets.

The global production of hydrogen is responsible for roughly 3% of climate change (fertilisers, refining, methanol, steel and other industrial uses). However, thanks to cheap renewable power, clean hydrogen is now becoming competitive with hydrogen made from fossil fuels. Clean hydrogen makes it possible to decarbonise these hard-to-abate industrial sectors.Stargate Hydrogen is an innovative technology provider of turn-key hydrogen electrolysis solutions. My responsibility is to establish and lead the commercial side of the company, including setting the strategy, understanding customer needs, building key partnerships and hiring and leading the sales, marketing and customer accounts teams.

Elering is Estonia's power and gas transmission system operator. I was responsible for Elering's digital transormation, setting the digitalisation strategy, leading the digital steering group and prioritising the IT investments of the company. Led the Data Bridge Alliance initiative. There are over 100 million smart meters in Europe today, but the data from these meters is typically not accessible to innovators. Drove the initiative to open up this data, built executive and working level partnerships with grid operators from ten European countries, promoted the topic among industry and government and contributed to drafting the European regulation on data interoperability. Led the software development project for building Estonia's data access platform Estfeed, with an overall team of around 20 people (three from Elering, the others from our software development partner).In 2021 brought Elering into the real-time guarantees of origin project Energy Track and Trace. The aim of the initiative is to give people and businesses the ability to choose 100% clean energy on an houry basis. Energy Track and Trace will prove the concept together with consumers and producers in Germany, Denmark and Estonia.Elering is the transmission system operator for electricity and gas in Estonia, as well as the renewable energy subsidy agency and issuer of guarantees of origin.

Sympower is a demand response aggregator. The purpose of Sympower is to accelerate the transition towards a low-carbon energy system by enabling flexible energy consumption in industry and homes.Founded the company in 2015, gathered the initial team, built both the software and hardware of the initial prototypes and obtained pilot customers. In 2016 fulfilled the CTO role as Sympower started earning real revenue. In 2017 I moved back home to start my family. It was not possible to effectively contribute to the company while living far away from the team, so I left Sympower on good terms.Today Sympower is operating in several countries around the world and is scaling up, thanks to Simon's and team's good work.www.sympower.net

Undertook background research in specific energy issues for the landmark report, “Composing Energy Futures to 2050”, edited the executive summary, created a standard presentation and presented the results of the study at the 15th annual REFF conference in London.
